    Summary

    The Applications Specialist will provide support to the Applications team through performance of manual and automated ELISA testing, compilation and analysis of data, maintenance of the cleanliness and organization of the laboratory space and troubleshooting of Gold Standards Diagnostics instrumentation hardware/software.

    Specialists will be asked to provide technical support to customers via telephone, email, and on-site communications.
    This position provides a unique opportunity to explore a wide variety of roles in clinical diagnostics.

    Applicants can expect to gain experience and expertise in laboratory techniques, hardware troubleshooting, project leadership, software programming, tools for visualizing and analyzing data, laboratory writing, and customer service.

    Test ELISA automated methods on new and existing diagnostic instrumentation.
    Perform manual ELISA testing for Applications and Technical Support.
    Efficiently create and follow plans for experimentation during automated method development and performance verification testing.
    Present assay verification data for review and approval to customers and internal team.
    Write and review ELISA automated programs on various software.
    Maintain laboratory organization, cleanliness, and instrument maintenance in accordance with company regulatory requirements.
    Compile and review data from in-house testing and/or related to customer complaints.
    Troubleshoot, test, and repair diagnostic instrumentation as needed.
    Work in coordination with Technical Services on customer-related in-house testing of hardware, software, and assays.
    Assist with on call technical support coverage to address complaints and resolve customer issues as needed.
    Lead and participate in discussions involving Gold Standard Diagnostics internal staff, distributors, and customers.
    Travel to customer sites to aid in complaint resolution or provide proactive support and customer training.
    Qualifications

    Education/Experience
    B.S. or B.A. degree required, Biological Science/or a related field required
    2+ years laboratory experience or evidence of laboratory experience during coursework required
    Previous experience with diagnostic instrumentation experience or ELISA preferred Computer Skills
    Must be proficient in Windows 7, 8, 10
    Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    Experience with coding (C-Sharp) is a plus, but not required
    Must be willing and able to learn other software programs as needed
    Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities
    General Laboratory knowledge (use of equipment, pipetting, personal safety, general lab practices, accurate measurements, and dilutions)
    Technical knowledge of Immunochemistry & ELISA testing
    Experience in mathematical concepts such as graph interpretation (point-to-point, 4-PL, cubic spline, etc.), functions, and ratios. Coursework in statistical analysis is a great addition.

    Ability to learn new & existing instrumentation and software technology
    Maintain systems for tracking proper functioning of tests and equipment, software versions, and test file versions

    Record data, make computations, analyze results, and write reports
    Certificate and Licenses
    Must maintain a valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
    Reasoning Ability

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Math Ability

    Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

    May need to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Must be able to determine test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
    Language Ability
    Must have the ability to perform all the following in English:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
    Ability to write reports and business correspondence
    Must be able to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from customers, and other employees of the organization
