Job Description:
50% - Direct Student Support
Provides support for individuals affected by interpersonal violence including incidents of sexual assault & abuse, sexual harassment, sexual battery, intimate partner violence, dating violence, and stalking.
Accompanying and providing advocacy to survivors during medical and legal exams and processes as the student chooses.
Provides information on available resources and options, referring students to additional services when relevant.
20% - Marketing, Increase Community Awareness of Survivor Services
Works with CARE Coordinator to establish and maintain partnerships with the members of the campus and community to cultivate networks and systems that assist and educate students and others affected by interpersonal violence.
Provides consultative information applicable to student, staff, and faculty sexual violence trainings.
20% - Administrative: Including, but not limited to, submitting documentation, taking phone calls, and attending meetings.
10% - Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) is comprised of the Clinical Service, Campus Assistance, Resource, and Education (CARE) and the Testing Service.
The goal of the Counseling Center is to provide students with clinical, educational and outreach-based services that benefit the mental health and well-being of all Jayhawks.
Our services are primarily short-term in nature, and we make referrals to other helping professionals and community agencies as appropriate.

This position works with the CARE Coordinator providing confidential support to students who have been affected by interpersonal violence.
They will provide direct emotional support and education on options, resources, and resource acquisition on the KU campus and in the community.
They will also provide advocacy services during the reporting process (both through KU and criminal processes).They provide a wide range of supportive measures (assisting with housing relocations, accessing medical care, etc.) and will also provide academic supportive measures to assist in improving the academic success of the student.
The Advocate will also work with the CARE Coordinator to help manage and create outreach material for these services (marketing on KU campus and the community, creation, and management of social media and website content).
The ideal candidate will have experience in and commitment to promoting and enhancing inclusion and commitment to ongoing development of multicultural competence.
Additionally, the candidate will have the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively, to take initiative, and to be flexible in response to developing demands and challenges of the position.
