Job Title

Purpose of the Position:

The successful candidate will oversee Research and Development efforts related to our Low Voltage (0-1000V) product portfolio, leading a team of engineers responsible for conceptual and detailed mechanical design of new products. They will work closely with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) to define test samples required to expand our certified product portfolio.

Essential Functions:

Build and manage a team of R&D engineers to accelerate the New Product Development Design Process
Foster a culture of ownership among team members assigned to specific tasks and products.
Conduct thorough research to aid in the development of new products tailored to the markets we serve
Initiate projects as directed by the steering committee; Identify potential blockers to timely success
Assign tasks to maximize efficiency and output of the team, communicating project dates to Project Management
Track Projects through scoping, design, and prototyping stages, ensuring Design deliverables are met on schedule.
E nsure that Mechanical Designers understand tooling required to fabricate parts, collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering Teams, and prioritize Design for Manufacturability
Ensure all designers adhere to documented industry-standard design processes. When processes are not documented, create drafts to fill gaps for approval by stakeholders
Review, redline, and advise on your team's design deliverables, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Attend regular meetings with UL and other NRTLs.

Competencies:

Leadership
Strong Technical Capability
Power engineering expertise related to LV and MV switchgear from 120V to 38kV
Understanding of NRTL certifications and UL listings
Knowledge of Design Testing requirements

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
At least 5 years of experience in design engineering related to switchgear, power generation equipment, custom control systems, or similar fields
At least 3 years of experience in Engineering Management with direct supervision of engineers
