- Server Installation and Configuration: Installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and software, including operating systems, applications, and security patches.
- System Monitoring and Optimization: Monitoring server performance, identifying and resolving issues, and optimizing system resources to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency.
- Security Management: Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect servers and networks from unauthorized access, viruses, malware, and other security threats.

- Automation and Scripting: Developing scripts and automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance system management processes.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with other IT teams, such as network engineers, database administrators, and software developers, to ensure seamless integration and operation of server infrastructure with other systems and applications.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest technologies and best practices in server administration to effectively manage and support complex server environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. Equivalent experience may substitute for Bachelor's degree.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) in Server Infrastructure, CompTIA Server+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CNNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CNNP), VMware Certified Professional (VCP) in Data Center Virtualization
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, and Unix.
- Understanding of networking concepts, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, routers, and switches.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM.
- Knowledge of server hardware components, RAID configurations, and troubleshooting hardware issues.
- Familiarity with scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Perl for automating tasks and system management.
- Understanding of security best practices, access controls, encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and vulnerability management.
