    Shift: 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday - Friday, with a 5:30 a.m. start on Saturday.

    JOB SUMMARY: The Production Technician III role plays a crucial part in supporting the operations team by planning and carrying out a wide range of tasks like installing, moving, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on production equipment across the facility. This role involves implementing 5S and Lean manufacturing practices to enhance material handling, production line setup, and safety protocols, focusing on boosting equipment safety, uptime, and performance.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensure adherence to company and industry safety standards - OSHA, NEC, NFPA, USDA, FDA, etc. Identify, escalate, and address unsafe work conditions, promoting compliance among team members, while also suggesting ways to enhance safety practices.
    • Conduct inspections and preventive/predictive maintenance tasks on production and process utility equipment to improve quality, safety, and equipment reliability.
    • Diagnose and resolve issues with production and process utility equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, as well as facility repairs when necessary.
    • Utilize continuous improvement techniques to enhance equipment reliability, such as root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode analysis (FMA), making recommendations for preventing future issues. Provide coaching and training on these techniques to team members.
    • Lead production equipment rebuilds, installations, setups, and calibrations, collaborating with OEMs for emergency repairs as required.
    • Interpret equipment work orders, manuals, diagrams, and schematics to execute maintenance tasks efficiently. Train team members on interpreting technical documents.
    • Efficiently manage planned work, unexpected failures, and work orders in a fast-paced environment.
    • Accurately log work orders in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to track maintenance metrics effectively.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Experience Required:

    • Minimum five (5) years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Familiarity with lockout tagout, job hazard analysis, confined spaces, and other relevant safety practices.
    • Experience in a food processing setting and knowledge of USDA, FDA, and SQF regulations.

    Preferred:

    • 1 year of experience in a leadership role.
    • Experience with condition diagnostic techniques like vibration analysis, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing, and thermographic testing.

    Education: High School Diploma or GED.

    Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

    • Required: Must have own tools for maintenance repairs (Sysco provides major tools).
    • Preferred: Formal training in equipment maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.

    Skills:

    • Thorough knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and environmental / food safety standards.
    • Basic computer skills and proficiency.
    • Expertise in preventive maintenance inspections and repair.
    • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
    • Experience with tools like a multi-meter, infrared thermometer, and megohmmeter.

    Physical Demands:

    • Able to meet physical requirements such as lifting heavy items, operating equipment, standing, sitting, bending, and performing repetitive motions.
    • Strong hand and finger dexterity necessary for repair work.
    • Capable of grasping tools and performing tasks that involve pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying objects.

    Working Conditions:

    • Work environment includes food processing temperatures, exposure to wet, hot, cold, or humid conditions, and potential confined spaces.
    • May involve non-traditional hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and travel.
    • Exposure to high places, fumes, or airborne particles, with moderate noise levels.
