    SALARY RANGE:
    SITE ADMINISTRATOR - DEAN/AD DIRECTOR SALARY SCHEDULE

    $87,301 - $123,240 BENEFITS:

    Nevada does not have State Income Tax.

    SUMMARY OF POSITION


    This position functions to help the principal in all assigned activities at the school site with primary responsibility in the areas of discipline, student activities, and attendance along with supporting curriculum, instruction, assessment, and accountability.

    This position will be part of an educational system focused on developing the skills and talents of all students through rigorous learning experiences, supportive relationships, and relevant real-life applications.

    This position is directly responsible to the school principal and/or designee.


    RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    This list of Essential Duties and Responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.


    • As needed, assist the administrative team in leading staff in the development and implementation of District and building-level goals relating student academic and social/emotional learning.
    • As needed, assist the administrative team in supervising and evaluating the performance of all assigned personnel and engage staff in the development of professional growth activities designed to support individual school/District goals and programs in order to improve student learning.
    • Assist the administrative team in leading a diverse staff, student body, and the community in development and implementation of building-level goals focused on the improvement of student learning.
    • Implement a school climate that promotes equal opportunities for all students, good conduct, and positive attitudes and values, and accept responsibility for the attendance, conduct, health, and safety of students.
    • Implement student progressive discipline plans in a fair and consistent manner, and in accordance with district policies and state laws.
    • Serve as the Athletic Director for the school; serve as a liaison to student government, extracurricular activities, the student athletics program, and other competitive or performance programs and events. Supervises activities, including evening activities, as assigned. Coordinates with various booster clubs to plan and carry out the school's student activities.
    • Participates in interviewing, selecting, hiring, and supervising of personnel involved with a variety of student activities.
    • As needed, assist the administrative team in overseeing the maintenance and operation of the building, grounds, and property assigned to the building.
    • As needed, assist with appropriate district curriculum, which is aligned with the Nevada State Standards.
    • Assist the administrative team in providing leadership, supervision, and evaluation of the instructional program for the school.
    • As needed, assist the administrative team in providing and/or facilitating training of staff with regard to the most effective practices which lead to higher student achievement regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or prior academic achievement.
    • Works with the Principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students. May be involved in the development of plans for emergency situations in collaboration with other administrators, staff, and public safety agencies; plans and debriefs emergency drills as necessary.
    • Provide for effective student, staff, and family communications; collaborate and resolve conflicts with others.
    • Supervises students on campus before and after school; monitors students during lunch, passing periods, and other activities; instructs students in appropriate behavior; disciplines students in accordance with established guidelines.
    • Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints.
    • Participate in district-level activities, trainings and meetings as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
    • Interpret and implement Board policies and administrative regulations.
    • Implement school-wide safety and attendance plans according to District and state procedures.
    • Participates as needed in all school meetings, including Individual Educational Plan and 504 meetings.
    • Attends meetings of parent and other groups; provides supervision for afternoon and evening activities.
    NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Perform related duties as assigned.


    WORK CONTACTS
    Frequent contact with teachers, students, parents, district staff, and state personnel is required. Contact with subordinates to manage and coach.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES


    Demonstrated knowledge of Douglas County School District Board policies and practices, modern principles and practices of public school administration; of state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing public education, particularly the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, Section 504; of principles and practices of shared decision making; of successful school philosophies and practices; of effective organizational and management practices as applied to the evaluation and assessment of teacher performance and clinical supervision; of methods, materials and techniques employed in a competency-based educational program.


    SKILL IN Evaluating and assessing teacher performance, human relations, conflict resolution, communications, leadership, organizational theory and promoting multicultural awareness and commitment.

    Skill in the use of a microcomputer and related software.


    ABILITY TO

    • Assist the administrative team in coordinating the school's educational program consistent with the District's Strategic Plan.
    • Assist the administrative team to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, administrators, Board members, outside agencies, school staff, parents and the general public.
    • Assist the administrative team in developing and/or coordinate staff development plans.
    • Strengthen staff morale.
    • Analyze and evaluating information accurately, and in expressing ideas clearly, when providing oral or written reports and recommendations.
    • Establish and maintain a position of leadership.
    • Demonstrate a high level of self-confidence, initiative, self-direction, and motivation.
    • Conduct research, analyze findings, develop sound conclusions, and prepare comprehensive reports and plans.
    • Work independently and handle multiple priorities.
    • Meet deadlines. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with school officials, administrators, outside agencies, school staff, parents and the general public.
    • Appropriately handle stress and interact with others.
    • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED
    Work is performed under the administrative direction of the School Principal. Work is reviewed through conferences and reports relating to accomplishment of broad program objectives and effectiveness of service delivery. The School Principal shall at least annually evaluate the Dean-Athletic Director's performance.


    SUPERVISION EXERCISED
    Supervision is exercised directly, or through subordinate supervisors, over all certified and classified staff at the school site.

    CONDITIONS OF WORK Work is performed under the following conditions:

    Exposure to climate controlled office settings to outside weather with temperatures ranging from mild/moderate to extreme cold/heat.
    May involve exposure to noise levels ranging from moderate to very loud and occasional to frequent time periods.
    May involve work in crowded environments.


    Hazards:


    Office/Classroom furniture, playground/office equipment, communicable diseases, chemicals (as related to specific assignment), and power/hand operated equipment and machinery (as related to specific assignment).


    ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING


    Five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in an educational environment; college education (Master's Degree) with emphasis in curriculum, leadership and administration, instruction, school finance and law; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the work.

    LICENSES/CERTIFICATES


    Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Nevada driver's license is required; a valid Nevada teaching license; and Nevada School Administrator Endorsement.

    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL/INTELLECTUAL REQUIREMENTS The physical and mental/intellectual requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job


    Those requirements include:

    • Strength, dexterity, and coordination to use keyboard and video display terminal for prolonged periods.
    Sedentary to heavy exertion of force involving 10-25 pounds frequently with up to 50 pounds occasionally.
    May involve negligible up to significant stand/walk/push/pull/carry.

    May involve climbing, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, carrying, and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, and repetitive fine motor activities.

    Mobility to work in a typical classroom setting and use standard classroom equipment.

    The ability to interact professionally, communicates effectively, and exchange information accurately with all internal and external members of the school community.

    EMPLOYEE PUNCTUALITY AND APPEARANCE


    In order for DCSD schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave.

    Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator.
