These values-integrity, patient-centered, respect, accountability, and compassion-must guide what we do, as individuals and professionals, every day. The staff hospitalist must be able to competently care for the hospitalized patient throughout the hospital stay. This includes emergency evaluation and triage in addition to admission to the hospital and formation of a differential diagnosis.It is essential to formulate a comprehensive care plan in accordance with the most up to date, evidence based protocols.
The staff hospitalist must possess excellent communication skills and exhibit these through communication with primary medical doctors as well as in house consultant physicians and colleagues.
