    Description

    Job Summary:

    Under direct supervision of the modality supervisor, performs patient examinations and related activities; performs patient exams in accordance with established protocols, demonstrates knowledge of digital environment; reviews images prior to archiving to PACS and for submission to radiologists for interpretation, maintains patient records; assures the correct patient is being imaged in accordance to hospital protocol of checking at least two patient identifiers prior to completing examination, and patient's clinical history is complete; completes associated paperwork, performs QA/QC on equipment, as needed. Stocks exam rooms with basic supplies, starts IV's and/or administer contrast, as needed, maintains and adheres to accepted sterile techniques and provides clean environment within examination area. Provide student technologists with the basic procedural concepts within responsible modality. Share emergency call, as required. Demonstrates appropriate computer skills. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Demonstrates knowledge and skill to appropriately communicate and interact with patients, families, visitors, and vendors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs. Knowledgeable of Radiation Safety ALARA principles and practice. Must be registry eligible for another modality other than Radiology and perform another modality in addition to Radiology exams, such as ultrasound or CT within 6 months of hire.

    Performance Expectations:

    • Has the technical aptitude for dealing with and troubleshooting multiple pieces of radiographic equipment including, CT, Ultrasound and EMR issues.
    • Safely position patients for radiologic, CT and or ultra-sonographic exams, using the transfer board and calling for lifting help when required.
    • Cleans equipment, transducers, and wipes down tables and chest boards after each usage.
    • Wears gowns and gloves when indicated to protect your patient and yourself from any spread of infection or disease.
    • Ability to perform radiologic, CT, and or ultrasound exams within 6 months of hire.
    • Properly, schedules patients within the EMR,
    • Request outside studies from referring physicians, and load said studies into PAC's system.
    • Work the scheduling depot within EMR.
    • Successfully explains the proper exam preparation to all patients scheduled.
    • Ensures all pertinent lab results are with normal range prior to performing test.
    • Understands the operation of the power injector.
    • Capable of starting IV's within 6 months of hire.
    • Successfully navigate and notate number of calls attempts within EMR of scheduled or no show patients.
    • Successfully perform appointment reminder calls of scheduled patients the day prior to their exam.
    • Actively utilizes the ALARA principle on all exams performed to keep patient dose at a minimum.
    • Practices radiation shielding when possible on all patients to prevent radiation exposure.
    • Has an excellent oral and written communication skill.
    • Safely maintains the sterile field, and assist the Physician's as needed with few if any errors.
    • Properly collects, labels, and delivers biopsy specimens to Lab in a timely manner.
    • Completes all Radiology consent forms prior to beginning a procedure
    • Prints patients CD's and verifies the images are on the CD prior to giving it to the patient.
    • Access and utilizes the EMR for the provision of patient care.
    • Properly identifies patients who present for testing.
    • Verifies orders and performs said orders.
    • Properly places orders for testing in the hospital's computer system.
    • Monitors supply levels and orders supplies accordingly.
    • Works efficiently within Excel and Microsoft Word to accomplish daily task
    Qualifications:

    Education/Skills

    Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology required. Must maintain 12 category A CEU's yearly.

    Work Experience:

    One year experience in diagnostic radiology (preferred).
