    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Medical Assistant will assist in the delivery of care in the ambulatory setting under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse or physician.

    Responsibilities

    MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES/CRITICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Conduct quality assurance checks on radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators, CT scanner, treatment planning systems, and imaging devices.
    • Provide technical support for treatment planning, including contouring, dose calculations, and plan optimization using advanced treatment planning systems. Perform treatment planning on an as-needed basis for both external beam and HDR brachytherapy treatments.
    • Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists on development and implementation of patient treatment plans, including simulation coverage as needed.
    • Perform routine checks of patient treatment parameters, monitor patient dose delivery, and ensure compliance with treatment prescriptions.
    • Provide training and education to staff members on radiation safety, treatment techniques, and new technology implementations.
    • Maintain accurate documentation of all quality assurance activities and equipment calibration.
    • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards applicable to radiation oncology.
    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
    • Master's degree in medical physics Required, PhD preferred. ABR or ABMP certification required.
    • Experience working in clinical radiation oncology environment preferred.
    • Proficiency with treatment planning software
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
    • Commitment to maintaining patient safety and quality care standards.
    • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
