    The Changing Woman Initiative is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports and provides women's health and homebirth services in a safe space for Indigenous families to receive compassionate and culturally congruent care and education throughout their reproductive life cycles.

    Director of Finance and Administration

    We are looking for a Director of Finance and Administration to join our nonprofit organization and oversee financial operations, HR management, compliance and administrative functions to support CWI's mission effectively.

    This role will ensure CWI manages its resources in the most beneficial way and help maximize funding.

    Financial Management: 50%


    • Maintain CWI's annual budget, financial forecasts, forecast return on investment (ROI) for current and future programs, and cash flow projections.
    • Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to the Board President and/or Board Treasurer.
    • Oversee financial controls, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
    • Manage relationships with external auditors, bookkeepers, and/or accountants and ensure timely and accurate financial audits and tax filings.
    • Maintain a robust contracts management and financial management reporting system.
    • Ensure all financial operations comply with Federal and State laws.
    • Inform key stakeholders of financial status and investment plans.
    Administration 30%

    • Supervise the Operations Manager, Accounting team, and IT with the day-to-day operations of the organization.
    • Help to develop and implement administrative policies and procedures.
    • Coordinate and manage contracts, vendors, and fiscal partnerships.
    • Collaborate with team for capital campaigns for program funding.
    Human Resources: 20%


    • Help lead and execute the organization's human resources strategy, including recruitment, onboarding, talent development, and performance management.
    • Oversee employee relations to help ensure a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
    • Administer employee benefits programs, payroll, approval of leave requests, and compensation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
    • Manage a comprehensive training program to educate employees regarding staff tools, policies, and procedures.
    • Consult with Legal on HR matters

    Qualifications:

    • Required: Several years of progressive experience in financial /administrative roles within a nonprofit setting.
    • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, MPA, or similar) is preferred.
    • Knowledge of fund accounting principles and experience managing restricted and unrestricted funds.
    • Experience in HR management, including employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
    • Extremely organized and able to manage many projects simultaneously.
    • Strong understanding of nonprofit regulations, compliance issues, and tax-exempt status.
    • Experience serving on or interacting with a nonprofit board of directors.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Demonstrated proficiency in financial software, nonprofit management systems, and HR software.
    • Passion for the mission and values of our organization.
    • Open to working, collaborating, and contributing in an organization that explores decolonized leadership models.

    Suggested Pay:
    $85,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year (Depending on Experience)

    Schedule:

    • Monday to Friday

    Employment Benefits for Director of Finance and Administration

    Training and Education Benefit:
    CWI will cover the cost of professional training that is required to perform duties.

    CWI will cover up to $3,000 per year of continuing education expenses including course fees, travel, lodging, and per diem.

    These expenses can be prepaid by CWI or submitted for reimbursement by the employee.

    Travel reimbursement:
    Based on current CWI travel policy.

    Paid time off:
    Our paid time off policy allows employees to take leave as needed. Employees need time to rest and enjoy themselves outside work. Time off up to 15 days
    in a row is provided to employees to achieve high levels of employee satisfaction and productivity. This policy is based on mutual trust between employer and employee. It

    gives employees opportunities to work or take time off as they see fit, as long as they keep fulfilling their duties.

    Additional types of leave are also allowed, such as
    bereavement leave, military service leave, FMLA, jury duty/voting, etc.

    Holidays:
    CWI offices will be closed on the following paid holidays each year. When one
    of the holidays falls on a Saturday, it is observed the preceding Friday. When it falls on a
    Sunday, it is observed the following Monday.

    Professional Leave:
    Continuing education opportunities are encouraged.

    Time off to attend continuing education will be separate from vacation time and will equal on week per year for full-time staff.


    Wellness benefit:
    CWI is exploring health insurance benefits for staff.

    Until such a benefit is finalized, the Director of Finance and Administration is eligible for $1,000.00 per year as a wellness benefit.

    Receipts for health-related expenses can be submitted for reimbursement on a monthly basis along with any mileage/travel reimbursement forms.
