    Description

    The calibration technician is responsible for calibrating equipment, as well as maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting basic instrumentation both for the calibration laboratory and production lines.

    The primary focus of the calibration technician is to ensure that all instrumentation, gauges, and testing devices/equipment are calibrated correctly, on-time, and maintain NIST traceability.

    Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.1.

    Must be capable of developing calibration testing procedures, in cooperation with the requesting engineer, for each piece of equipment based on technical specifications and end use.2.

    Measurement errors must be quickly identified and corrected.3. Instruments that require inspection and repair may be of an acoustical, chemical, electrical, fluid, mechanical, optical or thermodynamic nature.4. Compile, measure and record data (as-found & as-left) from each instrument, and maintain the associated calibration database.5. Additional tasks may include training subordinates, ordering replacement parts for faulty equipment, and researching advances in calibration techniques.6.

    Employees in this job classification may be required to perform various other duties including but not limited to training, administration, and housekeeping.

    Candidate skills & requirements Qualifications:


    Education -Required - Calibration, Computer, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Quality, or Systems Engineering; Associate of Applied Science, Engineering Technologies degree, 2-year vocational or equivalent education/experiencePreferred - Calibration Engineering Technology Associate of Applied Science or Calibration Technician Certification ProgramExperience -Required - 2 to 3 years in industrial calibration experiencePreferred - 5+ years in industrial calibration experience.

    Special Knowledge/Skills -Required

    • Proficient with Windows based PC and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Read, interpret and understand specifications and schematics
    • Ability to troubleshoot
    • Self-driven, organized, critical thinker, and high attention to detail
    • Ability to communicate well verbally and through written reports/procedures
    • Understanding of NIST traceabilityPreferred
    • Understanding of pneumatics (pressure, flow), electrical (DC and AC), and forces
    • Oxygen safety training
