    What You'll Do:
    Tests, services, and repairs tractors, trailers and related mechanical components.


    • Perform in-depth diagnostic and repairs on engines, transmission, driveline, HVAC, electrical, suspension, lighting systems, body panels, brakes and air systems etc.
    • Perform light trailer body repairs including doors, tires, lighting system etc.
    • Act as a mentor and trainer to Tech I and II's as needed.
    • Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs.
    • Drive trucks and yard jockey trailers in and out of shop before and after repairs.
    • Repair/replace bolts on body parts such as hoods and cab extenders.
    • Perform DOT inspections as outlined in USX guidelines; accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in timely fashion.
    • Perform open seat inspections to prepare tractor for next driver.
    • Perform 90-day lease operator inspections.
    • Perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring etc.
    • Perform basic and routine preventative maintenance on tractors and trailers as outlined in USX PM guidelines.
    • Check vehicle fluids (e.g. transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc.).
    • Change vehicle tires.
    • Grease mechanical parts.
    • Clean and maintain work area on a daily basis.
    • Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or better than SRT times.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    What We're Looking For:
    Education

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology preferred.

    Experience


    • Minimum of 7 years of tractor and trailer experience required.
    • A Technical Diploma from an accredited Diesel Technology Program may substitute for 1 year of the required experience.
    • Experience in the transportation industry a plus.
    Skills/Certifications


    • ASE Certifications preferred.
    • DOT, AC, and brake certifications required.
    • Advanced welding skills required.
    • Proficiency in using OEM websites for diagnostic repairs.
    • Valid Driver's License required.
    • Basic computer skills required.
    • Ability to read and write.
    • Must be consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving mechanical problems.
    • Must provide own hand tools that is adequate to perform job functions.
    • OEM Online Certifications preferred.
    Work Environment / Physical Requirements-Repair Shop Settings

    The physical requirements for this position match the needs of a well-lit and well-ventilated repair shop environment.

    Candidates for this role should be able to stand or walk for long periods of time, extensively work with their hands, and communicate verbally with their teammates.
