    Description

    Introduction

    The Maryland State Retirement Agency is the administrator of the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System.� The System is a multi-employer, public employees' benefit retirement system composed of twelve (12) separate retirement and pension systems with additional plan components, covering approximately 193,000 active members and more than 170,000 retires and beneficiaries.\r

    Main Purpose of Job

    This position serves as an administrative specialist in the operations of the Retirement\r
    Processing Unit. Primary responsibilities include preparation and review of various retirement application worksheets, retirement estimates through CRM cases, salary audits via CRM cases, preparing correspondence to return deficient forms, and various functions related to facilitating the processing of estimates and retirement applications. Timely and accurate\r
    processing of transactions related to these processes are essential elements in aiding the\r
    Agency in meeting the objective of our "Mission Statement" which is to effectively\r
    communicate to participants and employers information about benefits provided by the\r
    system.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.\r
    Experience: Two years of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.�\r
    Notes:\r
    1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year of the required experience.\r
    2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    At least one year of experience in using Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook).\r

    At least one year of experience reviewing retirement/employee benefits documents for accuracy.\r

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

    Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r
