    Summary
    The Sr Hardware Engineer, Electrical Design- Lithium applies analog/digital and power electronics theory and practice related knowledge to design, prepare, test, and validate developmental or operational battery electronics. Will create specifications and design documentation for battery systems, design battery electronics systems, perform modeling, define, and create embedded software for boards and interact with Engineering and Production departments for product development, testing and validation based on customer specifications.

    Essential Functions

    • Design, develop and specify electronic products including hardware and software.
    • Determine specifications, operating parameters, costs, and manufacturability requirements.
    • Perform modeling such as spice-based circuit simulation. Create schematic and PCB layouts. Define and create embedded software for boards when required.
    • Write Technical Specifications, Users Manuals and write, compile and complete Verification and Test Plans / Reports to documentation standards.
    • Design manufacturing test fixture electronics and mechanical interfaces
    • Plan and prepare products for introduction to manufacturing including providing initial manufacturing quotes.
    • Interact with Engineering and Production departments for product development, testing and validation.
    • Identify and interact with internal and external suppliers for component supply and assembly needs.
    • Give presentations to customers and co-workers as required, mentor junior staff when appropriate.
    • Write Manufacturing and Test Specifications.
    • Build, troubleshoot and test engineering prototypes, and manufacturing test fixtures.
    • Guide engineering technicians through the prototype building process and teach troubleshooting skills.
    • Troubleshoot for PCB manufacturing.
    • Substitute raw materials research and acquisition.
    • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory area.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering, master's degree preferred.
    • 8 or more years of design experience.
    • Experience with microcontrollers/microprocessors.
    • Direct experience working with digital, analog, and circuit design.
    • Demonstrated success working in a cross disciplinary laboratory environment.
    • Hands-on experience working with lab tools (Power supplies, electronic loads).
    • Understanding of circuit board design processes (board layout, integration, electrical schematics, and testing).
    • Experience developing/designing/troubleshooting PCBs.
    • Familiarity with high voltage design.
    • Strong analytical skills and the ability to collect information, identify patterns, and interpret data from various sources.
    • Experience with electrical system architecture and design for embedded systems using microcontrollers.
    • Basic software programming knowledge, such as using languages such as C/C++.
