Description

· The NICU Respiratory Therapist assists with special projects, validations, and orientations. This position is responsible for having the knowledge and ability to train staff on all NICU equipment.

· Participates in new staff orientation and annual competency evaluations. Monitors employee validations to ensure completion.

· Participates in creating and reviewing policies and procedures. Participates in department performance improvement programs and adjusts staff assignments for other staff's participation.

· Provides staff development and improvement of clinical skills for clinical team.

· Assists with event/incident reporting for both patients and employee safety occurrences. Reports issues/malfunctions to appropriate departments.

· Functions as department supervisor in his/her absence.

· Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
