DescriptionThe Licensed Child Care Assistant Group Supervisor will oversee the operation of the licensed Day Camp including but not limited to: planning and implementing daily program activities; coordinating activities with all staff; and assisting the Director with designated activities. Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a licensed childcare program.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning and implementing daily program activities.
- Coordinating activities of Assistant Group Supervisors and Aides (Camp Counselor – Licensed)
- Assisting the Director with designated activities.
- Communicates effectively with participants, parents/guardians, team members and supervisor.
- Able to manage difficult situations with a high level of professionalism.
- Ability to make independent decisions and determine the appropriate course of action.
- Leads and participates in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
- Ensures the safety and welfare of participants and team members.
- Assures compliance with YMCA quality standards and safety protocols related to camp programs.
- Ensures upkeep of related facilities and equipment including set-up and the closing of activities.
- Understands emergency procedures, ability to respond appropriately and knows the location of emergency equipment.
- Maintains attendance records as required.
- Observes and discusses individual progress with participants and parents/guardians as appropriate.
- Maintains compliance with related training, clearances, and certifications.
- Attends meetings and training as required and other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Must be able to bend and stoop occasionally.
- Must be able to run occasionally.
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds occasionally.
- Must pass TB test (as required by licensing).
- Must pass a health assessment completed by a physician (as required by licensing).

(a) An assistant group supervisor is responsible for the following minimum duties:
Assisting in the implementation of daily activities under the guidance of the group supervisor.
Coordinating daily activities and supervising aides in the absence of the group supervisor.
QualificationsAn Assistant Group Supervisor shall have attained one of the following qualification levels:
A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.
A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in § c) (relating to age and training).
A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.
A high school diploma or a general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum described in § c).
A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2 years experience with children.

- Ability to teach and demonstrate a variety of skills and activities appropriate to programs.
- Ability to develop and implement programing as well as lead and direct camp staff.
REQUREMENTS:
- PA Criminal Clearance Certificate
- PA Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- PA FBI Clearance (DHS) Certificate
- National Sex Offender Registry Certificate (DHS)
- Physical and TB Test
- Mandated Reporter Training
- DHS-10 hour training after hire
- 1st Aid/CPR AED (children and adults)
