- The clinical nurse uses the nursing process to deliver high quality comprehensive and individualized care to patients admitted to the Infirmary In patient unit.2. - Audit records, conduct patient interviews, identify problems, choose and implement a plan of action.
- Communicate with other health care providers to ensure appropriate on-going care.
- Provide emotional support and/or encourage the use of appropriate support services when indicated.
- Encourage preventive health practices including providing the client with health knowledge necessary for the maintenance and/or improvement of health.
- Engage in telephone triage. Make fiscal decisions such as ordering ambulance service, ordering laboratory tests, and ordering equipment and supplies for use in the clinical areas.
- Engage in crisis intervention and provide ongoing support to patients with chronic or recurrent problems.
- Prepared to render life saving care, such as the initiation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, until the MD arrives.
- Assist in the stabilizing of the patient for transfer to acute facilities. Engage in discharge planning from ICF; coordinates social and community services.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and a minimum of one year nursing experience in an acute inpatient med surgical unit, or rehab/semi acute facility.

Position Focus:
In 1971, Yale University established Yale Health to provide health services to its facility, staff and students through a multidisciplinary health maintenance organization located on campus.
Yale Health has more than 47,000 members including students, staff, faculty and their families who come from every state in the country and almost every country in the world.
Our state-of-the-art facility at 55 Lock Street, is where our members receive most of their care from our 150+ providers.
It is a 144,000 square foot medical facility with over 90 exam rooms, an Acute Care Department, a 15-bed inpatient facility with several negative pressure rooms, a diagnostic imaging suite including MR and CT scan, x-ray and ultrasound and a full-service retail pharmacy.
The Inpatient/Acute Care RN Provides direct service in multi-problem nursing situations for a selected caseload of patients in the Yale Health Inpatient Care Facility and Acute Care.
