    The University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for a Crisis Response Case Manager. Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Case Manager assists with the administration and oversight of a case management system for coordinating and monitoring services to distressed students. Job responsibilities will include developing and charting action plans for assessing and managing individual needs of distressed students as well as those of other stakeholders affected by the situation; serving as a point of contact to provide information, advice, and assistance to stakeholders who are dealing with distressed students; overseeing the implementation of the agreed upon action plan, ensuring cooperation and collaboration among those responsible for carrying out the plan; and assisting students in accessing on and off campus resources and support services, including mental health services, meeting basic needs, financial problems, academic difficulties, interpersonal concerns, etc.

    The Case Manager will work in conjunction with Student Health Services and Counseling Services staff to facilitate hospitalization of students with serious mental health disorders; coordinate welfare checks for students of concern and/or missing persons; and provide initial welfare assessments for students in distress. The ideal candidate serves on the Student Intervention Team (SIT), a multi-unit campus committee that deals with high-risk situations involving students, particularly those experiencing various emergencies and/or with mental health issues, and the Dean of Students CARE Team, responsible for providing support to students experiencing various forms of crisis and need.

    This position will ensure that communication with campus offices and administrators involved in cases is timely and appropriate. Consistent with FERPA requirements, the Case Manager notifies parents, medical professionals, police, and others as appropriate in health and safety emergencies. The ideal candidate communicates timely information with the student, campus and off campus officials, and others as necessary to meet the student's needs and address the situation; and serves as a liaison between Office of Student Conduct, Counseling Services, Residential Life, Housing and Food Services, Dean of Students, Disability Resource Center, Campus Legal Counsel, University Police, Center for Advocacy, Title IX, and/or other offices/services to support students connecting with campus and community resources. The Case Manager checks periodically with stakeholders to monitor student progress and learn if there have been any new incidents of concern related to the student.

    Required Qualifications

    Master's Degree and one (1) year of licensed professional experience.

    Related Experience: Social Work, Higher Education, or Mental Health/Counseling experience or related experience

    Certification and Licensure
    • Driver's license
    • Licensure in the State of Nevada to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, or a Clinical Professional Counselor (licensure must be a practitioner, not as an intern).
    Schedule or Travel Requirements

    Variable work schedule which may include nights and weekends.
