- Safety Officer Role:
Identifies actions to mitigate risks and hazards with the greatest potential for serious accident or injury.Ensures the safety, welfare, and accountability of assigned incident personnel.Exercises emergency authority to stop unsafe actions at any time.Investigates, or coordinates the investigation of, accidents occurring within the incident are taking place.Conducts safety analyses and prepares reports on all incident facilities and locations, as necessary; Communicates safety issues or concerns to incident personnel at shift briefings.Determines the need for subject matter experts or technical specialists to advise on or oversee unique safety issues or hazards, such as confined space, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), infectious diseases and so on.Assigns and oversees Assistant Safety Officers, technical specialists and subject matter experts, as necessary.Receive assignments, notifications, reporting locations, reporting time, and travel instructions from HCD Leadership in support of assistance required and where/whom to go for support.Ensures is properly checked in at Incident Command Post, Base Camp, Staging Arre, Division Leaders, etc.Supports Countys' EOC representative through Incident Command Post Liaison Officer and follow his/her instructions until properly released.Maintains reliable radio communications at all times and in support of active mission/incident.Ensures all communications are performed as directed and in accordance with ICS guidelines.Maintains ICS/EOC Leadership informed at all times.Procures necessary resources and supporting equipment via designated channels, as needed.Performs transitional briefings to incoming personnel, during shift changes.Completes required forms and operational documentation properly and proactively.Prioritizes operational continuity support via documented channels, online communications, and in-person briefings. Responds to incident momentarily with assigned designated equipment.Deactivates from incident premises, whenever properly relieved by Incident Commander or Unified Commander. - Security Officer Role:
Conducts scheduled and impromptu walk-throughs as well as security inspections throughout the premises.Acts as a liaison between patients and medical staff, providing guidance and direction for patients and visitors upon arrival to location.Monitors surveillance camera system. Investigates, reports, and follows up on suspicious activity on the property.Ensures only authorized personnel access restricted areas.Leads efforts to de-escalate inappropriate behaviors.Contacts law enforcement or fire department in cases of emergencies.Capable of subduing unruly, aggressive, and/or baker-acted patients as instructed by medical personnel.Prepares objective reports on incidents and findings for Management as needed.Escorts terminated staff, and parties who are trespassing on the premises.Keeps order in lobby and waiting areas to avoid injuries or accidents.Takes proactive steps to provide a safe and secured working environment for staff and visitors.Responds to incidents as needed and liaise with Law Enforcement & First Responders as required.Interfaces with vendors, contractors, and suppliers scheduled to perform work on the premises.Receives, inspects, and distributes packages and letters delivered and for suspicious tampering.Manages the traffic flow in the premises parking lot and garages.Performs other related duties as assigned.Identifies incident related to hazardous situations. - Communications Specialist Role:
Receive all incoming radio & telephone inquiries and requests for assistance regarding patient transports and refer all appropriate requests (by guidelines) to appropriate transport staff.Demonstrate a clear understanding of LifeTrans requirements, call receiving procedures, and appropriately route calls to the transport team or Administrator for discussion/action.Communicate in a clear, concise, friendly, and professional manner with all callers, transport teams, requesting agencies, hospital staff, physicians, and public safety personnel.Activate transport teams and relay information concerning the location and condition of the patient to the medical crew. Initiate appropriate protocols regarding notification and determination of patient destination.According to established LifeTrans procedures, initiate calls to appropriate physicians and facilities to relay information concerning the medical condition of the patient and the estimated time of arrival to prepare physicians and facilities to receive patients.Efficiently and accurately report patient medical data as transmitted by medical personnel.Maintain accurate records regarding computer documentation, according to LifeTrans Policy/Procedure.Operate all vendor applications as expected. Operate base station radios, conducting and coordinating all radio communication in a professional manner.Provide necessary communication assistance, in cooperation with other agencies during any mass casualty incident-including: ambulances, law enforcement, fire departments, rescue groups, and between hospitals and aircraft, in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations.Demonstrate a working knowledge of LifeTrans policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines. Have a functional understanding of local EMS structure, protocol, and procedures.Maintain proficiency at determining latitude and longitude, using grid maps, and LifeTrans's computerized mapping systems including applications like DeLorme, SkyConnect, Google Earth, and other internet resources. Communication Specialists will use these skills to determine and plot locations described by transport requestors.Receive, document, and appropriately coordinate all communication between the Communications Center, ambulances, and receiving hospitals/physicians via telephone and radio communication in conjunction with AirLife established procedures/guidelines.Ensure compliance with Federal Communications Commission (FCC) rules and regulations.Contribute to building a positive team spirit and display objectivity and respect for the views of others.Participate in Safety Stand Down Day and optionally participate in Survival Day and Vehicle Checkoffs with the LifeTrans team.Participate in mandatory Aeromedical Resource Management (AMRM) training with the AirLife team.Participate in other mandatory training and competency exercises as required by the Communications Manager/Designee.Participate in all education requirements including Moodle activity completion, review of Meeting Minutes, attendance at Communication Specialists Meetings, and fulfillment of International Association of Medical Transport Communication Specialists (IAMTCS) requirements.Encouraged to serve as a communications representative on an AirLife subcommittee and report back regularly to the communications team after one year of service.Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.Perform other appropriate duties and tasks as indicated or directed by the Communications Manager, Communications Supervisor, or Designee. - High School Diploma or a GED
- Associates Degree preferred
- 3+ years of experience as a Safety and/or Security Officer; Healthcare experience preferred.
- Valid Driver's License required.

Overview
The Safety & Security Officer ensures there is a safe, protected, and secured environment throughout the business units and correspondingassigned locations by patrolling and monitoring corresponding premises. Asneeded, he/she will provide guidance and direction to staff, visitors, andpatients when arriving to the unit and during times of distress. During timesof distress, will monitor incident operations and advise the Incident Commander(IC) or Unified Command on all matters relating to operational safety,including the environmental, health and safety of personnel involved in the incident.
