    Description

    POSITION PURPOSE:


    The Registered Nurse will, within their scope of licensure and under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager, utilize the nursing process and their critical thinking skills to provide care to our patients.

    The Registered Nurse will perform daily clinical duties and will function as a resource to other licensed nurses and Medical Assistants.

    will treat and educate patients and the public about various medical conditions and provide advice and support to patients and their family members.

    The Registered Nurse will assist the Clinic Manager in the development of systems that maximize patient service, safety, quality care and provider efficiency.

    In addition, the Registered Nurse will assist in Department Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement activities under the direction of the Clinic Manager and/or Chief Medical Officer.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


    Triage of phone calls and walk-in patients for acuteness of need and/or priority of intervention and document assessment information of all activities.

    Coordinate and deliver patient education to individual and groups of patients.

    Inform patients of abnormal lab test and x-ray results.


    Provide support and education of Licensed Practical Nurses and Medical Assistants that includes mentoring, training and oversight in basic skills and procedures, testing knowledge base and giving in-services.

    Participate in implementation of clinical programs for patients with chronic conditions.

    Oversees the operation, accountability for, and maintenance of clinic equipment.

    Maintains good attendance, is punctual and works full scheduled shift is a condition of employment.

    Administer injections and screens as ordered/prescribed by providers.

    Participate in orientation of newly hired clinicians.

    Provide back up in checking in patients and scheduling patient appointments.

    Attend staff meetings, in-service meetings and participate in agency committees and task force activities as required.

    Protect confidential client information and only share information in a manner that is consistent with current law.

    Familiarity with the complex needs of a population with multiple medical, social, and psychosocial obstacles in achieving and maintaining wellness and stability

    Explains procedures and treatments to patients and provides patient education on various health-related conditions


    Clinical nursing functions that may include, but are not limited to, blood draws, IV insertion and IV fluid/medication administration per provider order, suture/staple removal, foley catheter insertion/removal/management, wound care, coumadin management, staff training, vaccinations, perform nurse visits (scheduled and walk-ins).

    Works within your team to monitor, prioritize, and make decisions regarding medical staff and provider Athena Buckets.

    Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Active and unencumbered Oregon Registered Nurse licensure required, BSN preferred.

    Minimum and at least two (2) years progressively responsible, relevant experience in an ambulatory setting.

    Demonstrated experience with EMR, experience with Athena Health EMR preferred.

    Proven leadership experience, excellent customer service skills, and team building and collaboration skills.

    Ability to work independently, detail oriented, organized, work effectively under pressure, and meet deadlines.

    Excellent computer and organizational skills.

    Demonstrated knowledge of office procedures and patient flow.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Standing, walking, sitting, lifting and able to carry up to 25 pounds. Pushing/pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching and handling, climbing stairs (Elevator available).

    Hearing:
    within normal limits with or without use of corrective hearing devices.

    Vision:
    adequate to read 12-point type with or without use of corrective lenses.

    Must be able to verbally interact with staff, clients and public.

    Manual dexterity of hands/fingers for writing, computer input.
