    Overview

    The Center Administrator is responsible for the business management and operations of the Center of Perinatal Research.

    The Center Administrator works closely with faculty, administrative staff and various other ancillary and support functions and is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all activities and programs associated with the Center, including, but not limited to, program development, resource planning, fiscal management, personnel management, and compliance.

    Responsibilities


    Essential Functions:
    Advanced administrative leadership skills in a highly matrixed academic research setting, high level of professionalism and collaborative communications skills. Outstanding organizational, strategic planning and analysis skills with strong attention to detail.


    Leadership and Management:

    • Direct an organizational model that meets the needs of faculty and staff, operate efficiently, ensure compliance, and maintain a high-level of customer service.
    • Serves as primary troubleshooter for administrative, human resources and financial needs.
    • Measure performance using key performance metrics. Provide coaching, mentoring, and direction to direct and indirect reports.
    • Supports recruitment efforts of faculty within Center for Perinatal Medicine.
    • Liaison to Clinical Research Services, Research Administration, Office of Technology and Commercialization, other departments, and external customers.
    • Interfaces with hospital legal team, monitors contract negotiation process and acts as intermediary with vendors.

    Financial:

    • Responsible for fiscal management of Center for Perinatal Research internal and external funds, often including approval of spending, and tracking of time allocation per fund.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of grant funding and related compliance.
    • Demonstrates appropriate management of financial resources.
    • Maintains cost effectiveness, maximizing available resources.

    Planning:

    • In collaboration with Institute leadership.
    • Collaborates with Director, Research Facilities with space management and utilization according the AWRI policies.
    Qualifications


    Qualifications Required:

    • Master's Degree in business, health administration, or related field.
    • At least 5 years of progressive leadership experience in an academic medical center or other related field.

    Experience Required:

    • Demonstrate substantial understanding of healthcare administration, and application of sound management principles and practices.
    • Previous management or leadership experience in a complex setting preferably.
    • Previous experience in a pediatric or child health related area desirable.

    Leadership characteristics:

    • Flexible and innovative thinker with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Ability to work effectively in a matrix management reporting model/ environment.
    • Highly collaborative work style.
    • Interpersonal skills needed for counseling subordinate supervisors and resolving complex employee and multisystem problems.
