- An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
- OR
- An earned associate's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
- OR
- Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development (GED) testing program.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
- AND
- Current certification for Fire Safety Inspector from the State of Florida, Department of Insurance, Division of State Fire Marshall.
- Within one (1) year of appointment, verification of completion of course conducted by the State Department of Education to inspect existing school facilities in accordance with the Florida Building Code and State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF).
- Working knowledge of roads and streets within the county as they pertain to student safety en route to and from school.
- Knowledge of accident prevention techniques.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to safety and health.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
- Degree major in safety.
- Experience in conducting and/or supervising safety related inspections.
- Bilingual skills
