    A client of ours in the west suburbs of Chicago is seeking an Interim Contract-to-Hire Senior Accountant to join their team (Hybrid role: 3 days in office).

    This position will be largely focused on operations accounting, with a mix of corporate accounting and consolidations responsibilities owned by the team as well.

    GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Monthly close activities as assigned, which may include (but not limited to): creating entries, reconciling accounts, reviewing activity, running reports in ERP, reviewing and overseeing third party accounting and reconciliations, etc.
    • Lead and oversee key accounting-related projects focused on process improvement, system implementation, and internal controls. Develop project plans, define goals, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion.
    • Continuously assess and enhance accounting processes, implementing best practices and automation solutions to increase efficiency and accuracy (including creating/modifying/updating process documentation and policies for the department)
    • Assist in managing audits for entities and preparing supporting schedules and financial statements when needed
    • Ad-hoc reports and calculations as needed and assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum five years experience in the financial reporting/general ledger area, CPA a plus
    • Experience with month-end closing, timely preparation of GAAP financial statements, management reports, and reconciliations
    • General knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    • Ability to self-manage through projects, researching and proposing solutions independently
    • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Organizational skills must be above average. Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality standards
    • Possess excellent communication skills (oral and written) to work with both external and internal customers. Able to clearly and concisely communicate across different cultures.
