Position Summary
The Nurse Extern is currently enrolled in an RN School of Nursing and has successfully completed a Nursing fundamentals course. They deliver high-quality, patient-centered care by performing various patient care services related to common nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), the Nurse Extern assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with their skills and training. As they gain competency and knowledge from their school curriculum, the Nurse Extern can perform higher-level procedures. During the final practicum of nursing school and until licensure, the nurse extern may be preceptored by an RN and perform aspects of patient care under continued supervision. The Nurse Extern is expected to transition to an RN position within 4 months of graduation. If unable to do so, they will need to move to an alternate position.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
