    Job Summary

    Express Employment is looking for a0 Junior Controls Engineer to support the design, programming, deployment, and maintenance of automation and control systems for industrial clients.

    This is a hands-on role that emphasizes field work, travel, and collaboration with senior engineers to execute turnkey automation solutions.

    Responsibilities
    Assist in installation, wiring, programming, testing, and commissioning of PLC, HMI, and related control systems

    Troubleshoot and debug control logic, I/O, network issues in the field

    Support startup, maintenance, and repair of robotic / automated equipment

    Integrate control systems using platforms such as Siemens, Rockwell, Emerson, Mitsubishi

    Work alongside senior engineers, mechanical and electrical teams to integrate control logic with hardware

    Document project progress, changes, technical details for clients and internal records

    Travel to customer or project sites (domestic / international) frequent travel is required (up to 70%)

    Perform hands-on tasks (wiring, calibration, mechanical alignment) in industrial settings

    Adhere to safety standards, company policies, and electrical codes

    Required Qualifications
    Associate degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
    OR

    Prior experience in controls / automation / robotics
    OR

    Licensed electrician with demonstrated interest in controls

    Valid driver's license and willingness to travel extensively

    Ability to pass background check and drug screening

    Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship)

    Desired Skills
    Experience programming PLCs / HMIs / robotic systems

    Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams

    Strong troubleshooting & root cause analysis aptitude

    Ability to adapt to changing project environments

    Good communication skills, ability to work independently in field conditions

    Familiarity with communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, PROFINET, etc.)

    Additional Information
    Hours: 40 60 hrs/week; overtime is expected around project deadlines
