    Townsen Memorial is seeking a RN House Supervisor (dayshift) for our hospital located in Humble, TX. The RN House Supervisor is responsible for receiving patients to the clinical area and providing nursing care to the emergency room patient, as well as, providing oversight of the facility as the house supervisor to lead the staff in the absence of the upper management staff.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensures the emergency room and patient care areas always have a clean and therapeutic environment for all patients
    • Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician or physician assistant
    • Ensures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order
    • Admits the patient to the unit and prepares him/her for the admitting or emergent procedures
    • Makes initial assessment and determines the nursing needs of the patient, communicates additional discharge needs when applicable in conjunction with the emergency room physician

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Possesses appropriate communication skills to practice collaborative nursing
    • Ability to respond quickly, physically and mentally when priorities and /or the patient's condition changes
    • High stress tolerance: accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations
    • Ability to adapt with flexibility: being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace
    • Ability to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending one oneself to get things done
    • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
    • Ability to maintain records reflective of physician plans of care and physician orders

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • College degree required; minimum of an Associate's Degree with a Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • Minimum 2 years recent experience in an emergency/supervisor capacity acute care environment
    • Registered Nurse in the State of Texas; License must remain active and unencumbered while employed
    • Current BLS, ACLS and PALS

    WORK WEEK SCHEDULE:

    • 12- hour shift with rotating weekend requirement
