    Job Summary

    We are currently looking for a talented prep-cook/dishwasher to join our team at our specialty butcher shop and eatery situated in the charming north fork of Long Island. As part of this role, you will be tasked with using premium local ingredients to craft delectable meals on a daily basis for our patrons. Maintenance of cleanliness in the kitchen area and dish sanitization will also be part of your responsibilities, along with general cleaning duties assigned by the manager. The ideal candidate should be diligent, dependable, and have a keen interest in working with inventories or be willing to acquire new skills in this area. They should possess experience, ingenuity, and a strong commitment to delivering a delightful and nutritious dining experience to all our customers, who are essentially an extension of our close-knit family. If you have a flair for preparing outstanding dishes, we would love to hear from you. We work diligently, enjoy our leisure time, and relish in the art of cooking and dining both at work and beyond.

    A definite advantage would be an interest in learning the ropes of assisting our seasoned butchers, including the first female butcher on the north fork. While previous experience is advantageous, we have a traditional approach and are open to training individuals who exhibit the determination to master the craft.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Create menus based on seasonal variations and consumer preferences
    • Organize the kitchen with essential tools and equipment
    • Prepare and present food attractively
    • Supervise and assign tasks to team members
    • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and replenish stocks using our point-of-sale system for tracking
    • Adhere to all food safety standards
    • Comprehend reporting metrics and kitchen data analysis
    • Engage in daily kitchen and deli opening and closing protocols
    • Execute additional tasks delegated by management
    • Clear plates of food
    • Pre-wash and load dishes, glasses, and utensils into the dishwasher
    • Unload the dishwasher and store items correctly
    • Sweep and mop floors
    • Monitor detergent and cleaning supply levels
    • Uphold health and safety protocols
    • Participate in team briefings
    • Undertake other cleaning duties as instructed

    Qualifications

    • Diligent with a robust work ethic
    • Optimistic demeanor
    • Keen eye for detail
    • Ability to cope with the physical demands of the role, such as prolonged standing and repetitive bending
    • Spanish language skills are preferred
    • Proficiency in English is mandatory
