    Senior/ Lead Scala Backend Engineer. This candidate must be on GC or USC with extensive experience within microservices architecture and creating complex web applications. Full description included below.

    Contract through 5/31/2023. Will be extended or converted.

    Fully Remote

    Interview Process: Hiring process is 2 steps:

    • a) Technical screening - video call
    • b) Coding interview - video call
    • c) Architecture & Culture . b&c can be done on the same day as video calls. All interviews will be technical.
    Description:
    • Principal Scala backend engineer will work on a common benefits service, providing a gateway to a number of medical member benefits APIs.
    • This service is foundational to Price Care, enabling accurate cost estimates for a variety of medical procedures.
    • The position is remote contract-to-hire. Existing team has 7 developers.
    • The expectation is for this role with time to become a technical lead for the team. Hour are mostly 9-5 CST, with occasional releases or support activities outside normal hours.
    Project:
    • The project is called the Common Benefits Service (CBS) that unifies medical benefit data coming from several different APIs and converts them to a unified format.
    • It's the major component of our Price Care platform that provides accurate out of pocket estimates for a variety of complex medical treatment
    Top 3 Skills:
    • Scala (2+ years)
    • microservices (4+ years)
    • complex web apps (4+ years)
    Ideal candidate background:
    • Scala knowledge, especially creating Scala microservices for the complex web and mobile applications.
    • Previous experience leading projects.
    Experience that will set candidates apart: Scala proficiency would be a major differentiating factor.
