    Position Purpose:

    Under direction of the Program Manager, the Front Desk Receptionist oversees the front lobby desk, ensuring a welcoming environment for visitors. This includes screening and directing visitors, managing incoming phone calls, and maintaining constant vigilance over interior and exterior program spaces. This role involves not only administrative duties but also a crucial role in maintaining a secure and supportive atmosphere for the MLK Supportive Housing Services Program's clients and visitors.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    1. Performs job functions as prescribed by established policies and procedures within defined scope of education, training and responsibilities
      1. Presents a welcoming, positive, and professional presence at the front desk of the MLK Recuperative Care Facility, effectively communicating with all arrivals
      2. Screens and directs all persons who enter the front reception lobby appropriately to their destinations
      3. Sets boundaries regarding behavior or access to certain areas of the building, etc. in a polite, firm, and friendly manner while maintaining a non-defensive, non-aggressive demeanor consistently when communicating with any individuals
      4. Monitors behavior of all persons entering the front reception lobby and reports any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to Sheriff security
      5. Accepts and routes incoming calls in a manner that reflects on the program in a positive way.
      6. Takes accurate messages and relays important general information to inquiries.
      7. Accepts and logs information regarding building status, reporting to appropriate persons including DHS facilities contact, Program Manager, etc.
      8. Periodically walks hallways and outside areas of the building and logs status
      9. Monitors security cameras and follows established safety/security protocols
      10. Maintains monthly safety and other required reports or logs for the program
      11. Performs other clerical and administrative tasks as assigned
    2. Maintains confidentiality at all times.
      1. Discusses all patient information only with appropriate personnel when related to the care being provided,
      2. Maintains confidentiality for all documents that contain patient identifier information,
      3. Observes and respects confidentiality of information in regards to fellow employees.
    3. Responsibility and accountability for adherence to organizational and department standards and policy.
      1. Observes department guidelines concerning absences and reports absences in accordance with departmental procedures,
      2. Self-identifies potentially unsafe systems/processes/situations and takes initiative to report to the supervisor,
      3. Observes department guidelines to conduct personal business during breaks and lunch hour,
      4. Projects a positive professional image and adheres to organizational dress code.
    4. Participates in organizational programs/committees as assigned
      1. Participates in assigned staff and other meetings, including quality improvement, and in-service training meetings,
      2. Participates in all safety programs, which may include assignment to an emergency response team,
      3. Performs other duties and tasks as may be required or assigned.

    Requirements:

    1. Minimum high school diploma or equivalency (GED)
    2. Minimum 2 years experience in reception or monitoring of visitors in a public location.
    3. Must possess a caring and compassionate demeanor.
    4. Proficiency in working with diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds among clients, patients, and staff.
    5. Strong communication skills (written & verbal).
    6. Working knowledge of Microsoft Suites (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
    7. Current California Drivers License
    8. Post secondary coursework in human services, human behavior, or assertive communication is preferred.
