    Overview


    The Nationwide Children's Hospital Behavioral Health Supervisor works in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator to support clinical services and implement related administrative activities for the Psychiatric Crisis Department program to achieve the most effective, efficient, and culturally relevant service delivery to children and families.


    Further, the Supervisor is responsible for providing patient care, assisting with quality assurance, compliance, training, staff development, and customer and stakeholder relationships on behalf of the program.


    • Demonstrates competencies defined () below in providing age appropriate care to pediatric and select adult patients.

    Schedule:
    Saturday and Sunday from 7am-7pm.

    Responsibilities


    • Supervises the clinical activities of clinicians to ensure the most effective, efficient and culturally competent service delivery to children and families, including assessment, clinical interventions, disposition, and case management.
    • Support clinical interventions of clinicians for the purpose of encouraging clinical and professional growth, including co-therapy and case consultation as well as staffing for non-independently licensed or onboarding clinicians as appropriate.
    • Coordinates and provides clinical supervision to team members in accordance with program needs and state regulations. Reviews and signs charts for non-independently licensed staff in accordance with NCH policies.
    • Identifies and responds to staff developmental needs through supervision, provision of formal and informal training, and recommends approval for attendance at external and internal trainings and conferences.
    • Maintains familiarity with the research literature in areas of expertise and supports research and quality improvement initiatives relevant to clinical services.
    • Completes regular case reviews to evaluate staff and program compliance to quality assurance standards and identified quality indicators including competent and timely completion of diagnostic assessment, treatment planning, outcome measures, and other supportive documentation required for billing or clinical purposes or other external audits/reviews.
    • Monitors and assesses clinical practice patterns to ensure high level of expertise and positive outcomes for children and families. Reports outcomes to Clinical Coordinator.
    • Supports quality assurance initiatives that positively impact the operational efficiency and clinical accuracy of the behavioral health workflow.
    • Monitors operational flow for the shift and assists in the managing customer service needs for both internal and external customers.
    • Responds to ongoing daily operational demands by ensuring adequate staffing levels for the shift and coordinating coverage for direct service.
    • Models exemplary clinical practice by providing direct patient care. Time spent providing direct patient care will vary based on individual program need and individual program contingency planning.
    • Assists in data collection for the purpose of supporting productivity standards.
    • Completes performance evaluations in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator.
    • Initiates supportive and corrective disciplinary actions as per Administrative Personnel Guidelines in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator.
    • Meets regularly with the program staff, Clinical Coordinator, and Crisis Services supervisory team.
    • Enforces expectations for professionalism and team culture initiated by the Clinical Coordinator.
    • Supports Behavioral Health guiding principles and the mission, vision and values of Nationwide Children's Hospital.
    • Completes other duties as assigned by the Clinical Coordinator.
    Qualifications

    Knowledge , skills and abilities required


    • Masters or doctoral degree from an accredited university or professional school.
    • Appropriate Ohio independent licensure required; supervisor endorsement preferred.
    • Three or more years of experience as a provider of mental health or social services
    • Demonstrated skills in providing assessment and treatment to children and adolescents.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and lead staff, as well as to represent the agency to stakeholders. Supervisory experience preferred.
    Minimum Physical Requirements

    • Must pass TCI and/or other NCH endorsed crisis management training

    • Ability to drive to external meetings in Ohio, or travel by plane to national conferences.
    • Flexible hours that permit 24 hour on call availability to staff managing crisis or prompt services for identified periods of time.
    • Ability to utilize email and cell phones to conduct daily business.
