    VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS is located in Dublin, California, just 45 minutes due east of San Francisco.     SUMMARY -

    Under the direction of the HS Principal and designee, the Student Life Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the campus experience for students. They oversee various programs and services that enhance student engagement, including extracurricular activities, leadership development opportunities, and community service projects. With a deep understanding of student culture, they create supportive and engaging environments that promote personal growth, academic success, and social interaction. By collaborating with various campus departments, the Student Life Director ensures that initiatives align with the institution's core values and mission, creating an environment where students can thrive in every aspect of their lives.

    Reporting

    Work closely with the High School Principal and designee to:

    • Keep them informed regarding efforts, projects, feedback, discipline, parental communication, etc.
    • Secure support in establishing meetings with various school program directors
    • Provide timely information regarding all student activities to administration, faculty, parents, and students
    • Provide accurate, substantive feedback in a timely manner

    Flexibility and Responsiveness

    Work closely with the HS Principal and designee to:

    • Develop, implement, evaluate, and monitor a mission and vision for Student Life that will be communicated to our community
    • Build effective relationships with stakeholders
    • Perform other duties that may be assigned by the HS Principal and designee promptly

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Associated Student Body (ASB) Government & Leadership

    • Provides for a comprehensive and inclusive student government and leadership program in the school that reflects and represents the diversity and spirituality of the student body. This includes instructional opportunities related to student government and leadership
    • Supervise and advise the organization and operation of the student government, including all records, documents, and meetings
    • Assist in managing ASB financial matters by monitoring student accounts, budgets, receipts, and expenditures. Coordinate approval by the student government for all requisitions for expenditures from student body funds
    • Supervises the planning, campaign, election, and appointment of class and student government officers.
    • Provides for the identification and supervision of class and other activity advisors

    Student Clubs & Organizations

    • Provides for the identification of and supervision of club advisors
    • Develop social, cultural, and educational programs and activities to encourage student and community participation
    • Assist and monitor club advisors and members with the technical aspects of their obligations – budgets, constitutions, financial procedures, fundraising, and publicity; Offer assistance in planning their activities
    • Assist new clubs with the development process; provide club advisor and officer training; coordinate planning and activities with advisors to student organizations
    • Ensure that all clubs/organizations abide by the State laws and school policies

    School-Wide Student Life and Culture

    • Responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, supervising, and implementing assemblies, dances, interclub, promotion, and graduation activities. Assists in arranging equipment, facilities, and agendas for such activities
    • Supervise the sale of tickets, etc., during the school day for student-body-sponsored events
    • Provides for publicity of school activities
    • Serves as the Faculty Liaison for the Parent Teacher Fellowship for middle school and high school
    • Collaborates with all School Program Directors
    • Collaborates with the Director of Admissions to support new students' matriculation
    • Coordinates arrangements for guest speakers and other school guests
    • Establish and maintain the school's fundraising and activity calendar that is articulated with the school, the master calendar and administrative assistants
    • Participate in scheduled meetings concerning student activities with the Principal and/or designated administrator, Athletic Director, and Performing Arts Director
    • Participate in planning, coordinating, and attending educational, recreational, social, and cultural activities; coordinate program activities with other school organizations; establish and maintain a file of information related to various programs in the extracurricular areas for presentation to student groups and their faculty advisors
    • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned student leadership, selection of staff and club advisors, provide or coordinate training, and monitor class and club advisors
    • Teach courses involving leadership and school culture
    • Prepare various reports, including program activity reports and financial reports for school events
    • Supervise school dances; assure compliance with site dance policies. Arrange for appropriate chaperone coverage and security as needed

    • MUST RESIDE LOCALLY IN THE BAY AREA

    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
    • Demonstrate maturity, humility, professionalism, confidence, integrity, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic
    • Envision systems and ways to strengthen programming to enhance the student experience
    • Be organized with logistics and effective with the execution of events
    • Work effectively with the Executive Administration Team
    • Inspire and connect well with students
    • Have demonstrated experience working with parents and families to support the overall student experience

    Knowledge of:

    • Planning, organization, and direction of student activities and programs
    • Principles and practices of student government and related procedures
    • Organizing and facilitating student development, activities, and student representation in schools
    • Budget preparation and control
    • Oral and written communication skills
    • Principles and practices of administration, supervision, and training
    • Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
    • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
    • Knowledge of Google Sheets, Docs, Canva and other software as needed for planning and promotion of events

    Ability to:

    • Plan, organize, and administer student government activities and related programs
    • Coordinate assigned activities with other departments and outside agencies
    • Provide complex support to the Principal, prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports
    • Advise and instruct students
    • Work before or after school hours depending on events
    • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
    • Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures
    • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
    • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action
    • Plan and organize work and meet schedules and timelines; work independently with little direction
    • Communicate effectively with diverse constituencies
    • Direct the maintenance of various reports and budget files related to assigned activities
    • Maintain consistent, punctual, and regular attendance
    • Hear and speak to exchange information
    • Collaborate with local schools to identify effective programs to foster our students' educational experience

    Minimum Experience, Education, Certifications

    • BA/BS Degree
    • State Teaching Credential or Masters degree preferred
    • Three-year student leadership and teaching experience
    • Continual professional development
