    Description

    Primary Objective:

    As the Financial Accountant supporting the Transportation and Maintenance Divisions, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data, facilitating strategic decision-making, and optimizing financial performance.

    You will also be responsible for maintaining fixed asset records, managing capital budgets, coordinating tax-related activities, overseeing financial transactions related to memberships, patronage, and equity payouts, and management of various stakeholder programs.

    Financial Support for Transportation and Maintenance Divisions:

    • Provide financial analysis, reporting, and support to the Transportation and Maintenance Divisions to facilitate informed decision-making and drive operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with divisional leaders to develop and monitor budgets, analyze variances, and identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
    • Prepare financial forecasts, analyze trends, and provide insights to support strategic planning and resource allocation within the divisions.

    Fixed Asset Management and Tax Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate fixed asset records, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposal activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
    • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to conduct regular fixed asset audits and reconciliations to verify the accuracy and completeness of asset records.
    • Assist in the preparation of property tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate compliance with tax regulations and requirements.

    Capital Budgeting and Spend Reporting:

    • Lead the capital budgeting process for IAS, working closely with departmental heads to develop capital expenditure plans and budgets.
    • Monitor monthly capital spending, prepare variance analysis reports, and provide insights to management on capital project performance and expenditure trends.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of capital investments with strategic objectives and financial targets.

    Energy Tax Refunds and Coordination:

    • Coordinate the process of obtaining tax refunds for energy usage at company locations, liaising with energy providers, tax authorities, and internal stakeholders to optimize refund opportunities.
    • Analyze energy usage data, identify eligible refunds, and prepare and submit refund claims in compliance with applicable regulations and deadlines.

    Membership, Patronage, and Equity Payouts:

    • Oversee processes related to memberships, patronage refunds, equity payouts, and other member-related activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on membership-related initiatives.

    Stakeholder Programs:

    • Lead all activities related to the IAS Internal Finance Program.
    • Provide customer feed usage reports for external feed management software programs.
    • Initiate and reconcile ACH payments and collections.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
    • Proven experience in financial accounting and analysis.
    • Strong understanding of fixed asset accounting principles, capital budgeting processes, and tax regulations.
    • Proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and reporting.
    • Experience with property tax compliance and energy tax refund coordination is desirable.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and levels of the organization.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
    • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Adaptability:

    • Requires static strength to lift, push, pull, or, on occasion, carry objects with a minimum weight of 50 pounds. Also flexibility to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs. Some tasks involve repetitive motion.
    • Agricultural Environment – Possible exposure to seasonal weather, outdoor conditions, and agriculture products.
