    Job Title: Pediatric Hematology Nurse Coordinator

    We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Hematology Nurse Coordinator to join our team at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in Fairfax, Virginia.

    Overview

    The successful candidate will work closely with our team of specialists to develop integrated care plans for families affected by childhood cancer and blood disorders. Our team is dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment and support services to patients and their families across Northern Virginia.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate general benign hematology care and work closely with the Director of Hematology.
    • Oversee the Pediatric Sickle Cell and Hemoglobinopathy Program for Northern Virginia, which has achieved high hydroxyurea utilization and low hospitalization rates.
    • Coordinate outpatient clinical care, interact with physicians, NPs/PAs, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and coordinate referrals and consultations with other specialists.
    • Assist in implementing treatment plans and health maintenance, and follow up with patients/families.
    • Work with VDH newborn screening follow-up program to ensure new babies receive subspecialty care.
    • Provide patient education and support transition of young adult patients to adult hematology care.
    • Maintain patient databases and report data to VDH.
    • Assist with clinical research if desired.

    Qualifications

    • Graduated from an approved school of nursing.
    • Registered Nurse currently licensed in Virginia or ability to obtain license in Virginia.
    • All employees must pass an employment TB test, drug screen, and physical exam.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • BSN degree.
    • Experience in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.
