    CLASS DESCRIPTION

    The Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) seeks a Program Coordinator to work in the Compliance Bureau Equity Unit. This position is grant-funded.

    The Program Coordinator is responsible for three main areas of performance in the Office of Equity for the Baltimore Police Department: (1) Program/Project Planning & Management; (2) Community Engagement & Collaboration; and (3) Research, Writing, and Analysis. In addition to other duties, the Program Coordinator works with a team of DEIA specialists to creatively develop and ensure the successful implementation of projects, programs, activities, and grant specifications. The Program Coordinator communicates, plans, and collaborates with department personnel and community members to ensure that the agency culture and services reflect BPD's commitment to diversity, equity, equality, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism. The Program Coordinator is required to write - including business correspondences and comprehensive reports that reflect research and data analysis.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans and coordinates assigned projects, operations, or programs in a timely, effective manner.
  • Develops and ensures the success of program/project objectives and goals.
  • Organizes activities and people to ensure compliance with BPD's Strategic Framework for Advancing Equity, grant specifications, agency policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws, and other contractual agreements.
  • Helps identify and meet measurable program and project outcomes using various analytical methods and routinely conducts program and project outcome assessments.
  • Helps to establish and adhere to measurable program and project outcomes.
  • Coordinates and works with colleagues, personnel, community partners, and other stakeholders toward successfully achieving program/project objectives, goals, and measurable outcomes.
  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts public forums, meetings, training, etc.
  • Speaks to groups and individuals - during, before, and after normal business hours and days.
  • Constructs and writes reports to include research, gathering, and analyzing information and data.
  • Constructs and writes other business correspondences, i.e., emails, memorandum, complete forms, etc.
  • Attends office, government, and community meetings (virtual and face-to-face).
  • Assists with meeting, conference, and training planning and setups.
  • Assists with general office duties.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    EDUCATION: Preferred bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business or social sciences.

    NOTES(EQUIVALENCIES): High School Diploma with two years of equivalent professional experience in a related professional field.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of the Baltimore Police Department's consent decree, historic Baltimore Police and community relations, principles, and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in criminal justice along with program planning, development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrates experience with clearly and successfully communicating ideas, providing clear direction, and listening effectively.
  • Complying with policies, procedures, regulations, standards, laws, etc.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with community groups and various stakeholders.
  • Write a variety of reports accurately to include data and data analysis.
  • Planning and developing projects and programs based on research, data, and information.
  • Microsoft Word, excel, outlook, TEAMS, Zoom, and other similar programs and apps.
  • Willing and able to travel in Baltimore City and within the state.
