    Sargent & Lundy's Government Services Division provides cutting-edge engineering design and consulting support to the management and operating contractors for US Department of Energy (DOE) sites and national laboratories.

    Specifically, we support the DOE Environmental Management Directorate as well as the National Nuclear Security Administration laboratories and sites.

    What does this mean? You can be a part of multi-discipline design teams supporting projects cleaning up the environmental damage associated with the legacy nuclear weapons production complex and/or preserving our country's nuclear deterrent.

    Sargent & Lundy's personnel design facilities, systems, and equipment that treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste as well as systems that safely handle and process nuclear material.

    Sargent and Lundy (S&L) is looking for a diverse individual who is capable of handling various roles in the project management field.

    The individual will be working in the field of project engineering, cost estimating, and scheduling/project controls.
    As a Project Engineer, you will be assigned to work on and/or lead one or more project teams and assist the engineering team members in the execution of their project work in the following areas:

    • Coordinating the development of design drawings, engineering analyses, and construction specifications
    • Authoring/leading the development of engineering equipment lists and engineering studies/reports
    • Work with SmartPlant Foundation (client document system)
    • Internal and external tracking, management, and reporting of project performance and schedule progress
    • Lead efforts to ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget
    • Assist with the scope, organization, and pricing of equipment, material, and labor for construction cost estimates
    • Work with vendors to obtain material and equipment pricing
    • Perform material quantity take-offs
    • Organize and input cost and quantity information into existing Excel databases
    • Assist in the development of written reports including Basis of Estimate
    • Implement project controls and project management tools and methodology
    • Perform CPI/SPI calculations using earned value principles
    • Monitor and forecast budgets in accordance with a work breakdown structure (WBS) accounting system
    • On an ongoing basis, develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including resource loading labor hours to schedule activities
    • Communicate variances against monthly work plan projections, monitor performances against the plan, and develop recovery plans when applicable
    Qualifications
    Must be a U.S. Citizen; Dual citizenship with a country other than the U.S. does not qualify.

    Essential skills and experience:

    • Must be able to pass a U.S. Government security clearance check
    • Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Degree
    • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
    • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications
    • Basic understanding of estimating functions from the conceptual design phase through the construction phase of a project
    • Skilled with Excel software and building moderate complexity spreadsheets
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with teamwork skills
    • Familiarity with quality assurance programs (such as NQA-1)
    • Related engineering internship or work experience, which includes project controls, project planning, project scheduling, and earned value performance

    Valued but not required skills and experience:

    • Experience with engineering or construction oversight
    • Familiarity with Primavera P6
    Salary Range
    $95,000 - $112,000
