    We are seeking an experienced QAQC Trainer for cementitious coatings in the wastewater industry to provide training for our employees, contractors, and customers. The ideal candidate will have experience in the application of protective coatings sprayed with plural component pumps and a strong understanding of the inspection process, safety and environmental regulations in the coating industry. The Coatings Trainer will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs and providing technical support to the sales, application and customer service teams; as well as, inspecting and certifying the quality of coatings applied on various structures and equipment in the wastewater industry. This role requires the ability to travel 75%+

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver training programs for employees, contractors, and customers on the proper use, maintenance and troubleshooting of plural component pumps and protective coatings.
    • Ensure that all training is in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and company policies.
    • Provide technical support to the sales, application and customer service teams.
    • Responsible for assessing mechanical failures, diagnosing root cause of failures, planning mitigation strategies and developing solutions to problems with centrifugal- cast spray systems.
    • Coordinate with project managers and clients to ensure project specifications are met.
    • Oversee the mixing, application and curing of mortar and grout applications.
    • Provide technical expertise and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the project.
    • Maintain accurate records of materials used, labor hours, and other project-related information.
    • Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement new training programs.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate inspection reports, including documentation of any non-conformance issues.

    • Provide regular project updates to the management team.

    Key qualities and skills for the job:

    In-depth knowledge of infrastructure rehabilitation procedures, equipment, and OSHA guidelines.

    • Highly experienced in surface preparation, cleanliness, environmental conditions mitigation, test instruments, coating mixtures, protective coating application and safety concerns.
    • General mechanical ability, and general knowledge of hand/power tools
    • Ability to operate and conduct basic troubleshooting of mixers, sprayers and concrete pumping equipment and hydraulic systems.
    • Possesses understanding of all required work site permits including confined space, hot work, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), etc.
    • Knowledge of inspection practices and experience determining inspection methods best suited for specific applications
    • Demonstrates understanding of concrete mixes (good/bad and wet/dry).
    • Understands project up-selling opportunities and options.
    • Keep current with industry standards and regulations.

    Qualifications:

    • Any certifications such as NACE, AMPP, SSPC, or other coatings inspection certifications is a plus.
    • 5+ years of experience in the application and inspection of cementitious coatings and linings in the wastewater industry.
    • 5+ years of experience in the application of protective coatings sprayed in various methods.
    • 3+ years of experience leading and managing teams of coating technicians.
    • Bilingual preferred but not required.
    • Computer literacy skills, with ability to operate software such as Microsoft Excel/Word/Outlook/PowerPoint.
    • Ability to work overtime and out of town.
    • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations in the coating industry
    • Strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations in the coating industry.
    • Strong experience in training, curriculum development and instructional design.
    • Excellent Problem-Solving Skills and ability to take decisive action.
    • Ability to read and interpret project plans and specifications.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Physical Demands:

    • Ability to perform physically demanding work for 8+ hours a day, including prolonged standing and walking, bending, and twisting.
    • Ability to safely perform duties related to confined space work.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces.
    • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working as required by the job.
