    Overview


    CHI Saint Joseph Medical Group now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health includes 275 providers delivering quality care to patients across 88 locations in central and eastern Kentucky.

    Our full service network delivers a variety of Primary Care Services including Family Internal Geriatric and Pediatric Medicine in addition to several specialties to deliver custom care based on the unique needs of our patients.


    Responsibilities
    JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

    Under the direction of the health care provider and practice manager, the CMA/Ortho Tech is responsible for the

    delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well- being of all patients. Responsible for the delivery of patient

    care through nursing process of assessment. Accurately performs orthopedic technician responsibilities (splinting,

    casting, dressing functions) preliminary physical tests such as: measures blood pressure, records, weight, temperature,

    pulse and respirations and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols. Collaborates with other

    professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient

    outcomes.


    ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Perform general patient care by following established standards and procedures.
    • Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider.
    • Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration,
    height, weight, drug allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.


    • May be required to collect urine drug specimens, draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare
    specimens for laboratory analysis.


    • Administer ordered medications and /or vaccines via oral, injection, topically, rectal, ophthalmic, and /or nasal
    administration.


    • Administer Orthopedic Technician responsibilities .
    • May perform routine tests including but not limited to EKGs.
    • Schedules patients for diagnostic testing and follows up to ensure completion of testing.
    • Communicates with patient regarding test results and plan of care by phone or mail as directed by physician.
    • Prepare, clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment; keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean and
    orderly; dispose of contaminated items according to protocol.


    • Formulates and documents patient plan(s) of care, tests and examination results in the medical record as
    directed by the provider.


    • Escalate non-routine issues, questions and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider (s).
    • Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
    • Provide for the patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights.
    • Other duties as assigned by management.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Required Education and Experience High School Diploma (or GED equivalent) and graduation from an

    accredited Medical Assistant program

    Required Licensure and Certifications

    Current/valid Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical

    Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medial Assistant NHA (CMA-NHA), National certified Medical Assistant NCCT (NCMA), National

    Registered/Certified Medical Assistant NAHP (NRCMA), Registered

    Medical Assistant AMT (RMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA-AAH) certification required.

    Basic Life Support (BLS) within 5 days

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

    and Training

    Ability to travel and work a various locations.

    Ability to perform urine drug screens, administer injections.

    Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients.

    Demonstrated knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment

    room procedures.

    Through knowledge of the meaning and use of medical terminology

    and abbreviations.

    Demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take

    appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.

    Maintains a positive, caring attitude towards patients.

    Good computer skills using a medical management application.

    Possess a strong work ethic and a high level or professionalism.

    Preferred Qualifications Two year medical assistant experience preferred.


    Pay Range
    $ $24.60 /hour
