    Position Summary & Responsibilities:

    Position Summary:

    This Management System Analyst I position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Division of Policy. This position is responsible for preparing and providing analysis in report form on legislative bills and the outcome of bills at the end of each session for the Division, and assists with the day-to-day activities related to the division's work with the state legislature and federal congressional delegation. This includes the preparation and posting of testimony, bill analysis, and listening to or attending legislative committee meetings to take notes on committee actions.

    The Management System Analyst is also responsible for the day-to-day activities related to the coordination of requests to KDOT for discretionary support, including the coordination of all requests for support of discretionary grants, assessment of requirements to determine if support will be provided, the preparation of letters of support from the Secretary's Office, and preparation of reports on discretionary requests to the agency. This position also manages the agency AASHTO committee membership roster making regular updates and helps provide administrative support as needed to the Division of Policy, Performance Measures Teams, and Senior Director.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in collecting, evaluation, studying, or reporting on statistical, economic, fiscal/budget, legislative or administrative data.
  • Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four or more years of related experience with government affairs is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in political science, communications, or related field from an accredited institution is preferred.
