Summary of Job Duties:

This is a Variable Position. Works some Saturdays and Sundays. The APRN / PA will extend the patient care and administrative services for UAMS physicians in both inpatient and outpatient settings. APRN / PA will be expected to provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, perform procedures, and prescribe medicines and treatments. The APRN / PA will also manage health issues for patients, independently or in collaboration with the designated physicians. The APRN / PA will work autonomously as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. The APRN will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

APRN:

• Master?s Degree in nursing, must be Acute Care Certified
• 2 years of nursing experience preferred
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN/CPN License.
• Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.

or

PA:

• Physician?s Assistant Certificate of Registration with the Arkansas Medical Board, or be certification eligible, and be certified as a Physician?s Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
• Current BLS certification or must successfully obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
• Master's Degree in Health Sciences preferred

Responsibilities:

• Provides comprehensive health assessments, determines diagnoses, implements treatment plans, prescribes medical treatments, and manages health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician.
• Coordinates specialized, multidisciplinary care and facilitates consults for patients to assure timely and appropriate treatment.
• Collaborates with a variety of health care professionals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems, serving as a resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
• Manages post-procedure immunosuppression and labs of the patient in coordination with the physician and pharmacist.
• Participates in institutional initiatives and encourages the participation of others. Collaborates in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.
• Edits and documents results in various critical care systems.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
