To preserve the health care experience our community has come to expect, in 2020 the Intensive Care Unit at Thompson Hospital expanded their space which now consists of 12 beds, two of which have negative-pressure capability to allow for the isolation and treatment of patients with infectious conditions.

Each of the 12 patient rooms have ample space for advanced monitoring instruments and bedside visits from family and loved ones.

Main Job Function:
Utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Prescribing, delegating and coordinating nursing care provided to critically ill patients.
Provide patient education & coordinate the activities of ancillary personnel while maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice.


Qualifications:
NYS licensed registered nurse requiredCurrent CPR/BLS requiredACLS within one yearCCRN preferredEducation:Graduate of an approved school of nursingBSN required or commitment to complete within 5 years of appointmentCertification in clinical specialty or willingness to complete when eligibleEvidence of cardiac arrhythmia course or critical care course or within one year of employmentExperience:Minimum of one (1) year of medical/surgical experience requiredCardiac monitoring preferredCritical care preferredAble to prioritize and plan for the unexpectedAble to delegate tasks appropriately Interpersonal skills: Able to prioritize and plan for the unexpected Able to delegate tasks appropriately Good Communication skills and skilled in customer service Reliability and flexibility
