    This role involves tasks such as admitting patients, prepping them for procedures, assisting during surgeries, overseeing recovery, and providing post-operative education. Experience in conscious sedation is preferred, while we are open to training individuals with ICU/PCU/ED backgrounds who possess strong critical thinking skills, initiative, and a willingness to learn.



    Job Highlights:

    As a part of our team, you will deliver nursing care to a designated group of patients, following the standards set by Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington's ambulatory Nursing Care Standards, the Nursing Code of Ethics, and our organization's policies. You will collaborate with the Health Care team to coordinate and facilitate services across different segments of the healthcare delivery system. The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in patient assessment, care plan development, and its implementation.
    In the Radiation Oncology department, you will work alongside the Oncology team, including physicians from Medical and Radiation oncology, Advanced Practice Providers, infusion and clinic nursing staff, Nurse Navigators, and Social Work professionals, to provide compassionate support to our cancer patients. Your excellent assessment, communication, and education skills will guide patients and their families through every stage of their care journey, from diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. You will also assist in coordinating additional care services and providing symptom management for this specific patient population.


    Key Responsibilities:
    • Continuously assess the nursing care needs of a specific patient group using the nursing process. Develop individualized care plans based on nursing diagnoses. Engage patients and families in setting health care goals as part of their care plan. Prioritize patient care based on critical needs and available resources. Safely and competently provide nursing interventions. Inform and prepare patients and families before interventions. Offer telephone consultations. Evaluate patients' responses to care continuously. Anticipate and address changes in patients' conditions. Collaborate with the healthcare team to adjust care plans.
    • Demonstrate understanding of the physical and psychological effects of aging, tailoring care to meet the needs of different age groups. Communicate effectively with specific age populations. Identify personal learning needs related to these age groups and engage in relevant educational programs. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to plan and implement care. Evaluate the needs of patients requiring hospitalization and assist in admission and discharge planning. Work cooperatively with team members to manage workload effectively.
    • Recognize and address the psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs of patients and families in all interactions. Orient them to the roles of various healthcare team members, available nursing services, and how to access these services. Educate patients and families as part of the nursing assessment. Develop educational plans within the care framework. Provide teaching and counseling tailored to their learning needs and medical care plan. Encourage compliance with therapeutic regimens. Base teaching on scientific and behavioral knowledge.
    • Assess patients' lifestyle risk factors. Integrate health promotion and preventive care into nursing assessments. Collaborate with patients to enhance overall health. Implement preventive measures, both physical and psychological. Empower patients to take responsibility for their health needs. Adhere to documentation, safety, and infection control standards. Promote a safe environment for patients and follow safety and infection control guidelines.
    • Identify personal learning needs and engage in ongoing educational programs. Participate in staff and student education. Collaborate with managers on self and team performance reviews. Maintain quality care standards by developing, implementing, and evaluating professional nursing standards. Engage in multidisciplinary quality assurance activities. Contribute to nursing research and apply findings to practice. Adhere to personnel policies and maintain a high level of professional conduct. Adhere to the organization's dress code.

    • Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
    License, Certification, Registration
    • Registered Nurse License (Washington) required at hire
    • Basic Life Support required at hire

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in ambulatory care nursing
    • Background in primary nursing or case management.
    • Holder of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    • Recent experience in oncology nursing within the past three years.
    • Procedural sedation nursing experience within the past three years.
    • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Provider Certification OR Radiation Oncology Certificate
