    RECREATION CENTER MAINTENANCE PERSON (PART-TIME)
    REPORTS TO: RECREATION CENTER BUILDING SUPERINTENDENT/ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
    GIVES DIRECTION TO: PART-TIME RECREATION CENTER STAFF

    NATURE OF WORK

    This is a part-time working position with some supervisory functions responsible for the care and maintenance of recreation facilities. Average hours are 28 per week. Shifts will vary and include days, nights, and weekends.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Supervision of part-time maintenance employees, including work assignments.
    Assists in start up, seasonal operation, general operation, and closing of all facilities.
    Assists in special event set-ups.
    Performs daily building repairs and maintenance.
    Assists with repairs of machinery and equipment as needed.
    Assists with special projects.
    Maintains high level of cleanliness and repair of all facilities.
    Maintains park toilets, ballfield concession stand restrooms and shelters as needed.

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

    Performs all other work as assigned.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    Knowledge of indoor skating rink operation and related machinery.
    Knowledge of general building maintenance and repairs.
    Knowledge of swimming operation.
    Knowledge of basic tools.
    Knowledge of basic cleaning chemicals used in facilities.
    Interpersonal skills.
    AED/CPR skills.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma/G.E.D.
    One year of experience in facilities maintenance. Experience in ice rink, swimming pool, or similar facilities preferred.
    CPR/AED Certification
    First Aid certification desired.
    Valid Pennsylvania Driver's license is required at time of appointment and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
    Some supervisory experience preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb; use hands to handle, or feel equipment and supplies. The employee is required to operate office equipment. The employee will need to be able to regularly stand for long periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift objects up to 75 pounds. Requires normal range of hearing, eyesight and verbal communications to supervise, record, prepare and communicate appropriate activities.

    Environmental demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and outdoors and must be able to function and tolerate various environmental conditions including rain, heat, humidity and cold. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment and will work with toxic, caustic or otherwise harmful chemicals such as degreasers, cleaners, solvents, diatomaceous earth, acids and chlorine.
