- Verifies each patient and cross-checks their details for accuracy of the prescribed examination, clinical diagnosis, preparation, and all relevant demographic information.
- Applies suitable techniques and protective measures to capture high-quality images while following ALARA principles. Conducts pregnancy checks when necessary and accurately records findings. Proficient in adjusting CT scan parameters to minimize radiation exposure to patients.
- Evaluates all data and potential contraindications for the examination, such as medications, inadequate preparation, etc.
- Utilizes all safety features on equipment to ensure both patient and technologist safety.
- Examines the patient's medical records and physician's instructions to establish the best imaging settings for suspected conditions. Chooses the correct images and protocols for each examination. Skilled in modifying patient positioning or imaging parameters to enhance visualization of anatomy or pathology, following standardized protocols.
- Determines the appropriate dosage of contrast agent to administer based on the patient's age, weight, and procedure requirements. Administers contrast agents following specified protocols. Monitors patients during contrast injections for any infiltration or reactions, promptly notifying the radiologist and initiating emergency response if necessary.
- Completion of a recognized/accredited ARRT program is mandatory.
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience as a CT technologist, along with certification
- Must hold a valid certification as a technologist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Possession of ARRT advanced CT certification is essential
