    JOBTITLE:BUILDINGANDPUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENTJanitor/Laborer
    GENERALSTATEMENTOFJOB

    Under regular supervision, performs semi-skilled and unskilled tasks in the maintenance of County-owned buildings and grounds. Work involves performing basic building maintenance and repairs, routine equipment repairs and parts replacement, lawn maintenance, and assisting with the custodial care of buildings as necessary. Reports to the Building and Grounds Foreman and Assistant Foreman.


    Requirements:MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

    It requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by six months to one year of experience in general facilities and grounds maintenance, or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities. Must possess a valid state driver's license.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    ESSENTIALJOBFUNCTIONS

    Performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors and vacuuming.

    Stock and maintain supply room.

    Assists in cleaning and sanitizing restrooms.

    Inspects buildings and grounds for maintenance and custodial needs; reports maintenance needs to supervisor.

    Performs general grounds maintenance work, including but not limited to mowing and watering grass, edging sidewalks and curbs, trimming trees and shrubbery, spreading mulch, applying herbicides/pesticides and fertilizers, blowing debris from sidewalks and parking lots, etc.

    Assists with the general janitorial maintenance of buildings and facilities as needed, including but not limited to stripping and waxing floors.

    Cleans and maintains assigned tools and equipment.

    Receives and responds to inquiries, requests for assistance, concerns and complaints in areas of responsibility.

    Receives and reviews a variety of documents, including policies and procedures, schedules, work orders.

    Prepares and submits daily work reports and records.

    Refers to policy and procedure manuals, blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, etc.

    Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the supervisor, co- workers, other County staff, and the general public.

    Attends meetings and training as required to enhance job knowledge and skills.

    Pick up supplies and parts as needed and perform related duties as required.
