    Description

    • Under the direction of the CRNA Manager, the CRNA Supervisor assumes both a clinical and supervisory role. Responsibility includes participation in the hiring, orientating, developing, scheduling, and managing the performance of assigned staff CRNAs.
    • CRNA Supervisor assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of budgets, quality improvement programs, staffing levels, goals, objectives, regulatory compliance, and the policies within the department.
    • Responsible to maintain clinical license and practice 40% of the time clinically, and work 60% of the time administratively, with additional flexibility as needed depending on daily operational needs.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    People


    • Provides leadership in the professional practice setting.
    • Supports and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues.
    • Delegates tasks to assistive personnel in a respectful professional manner.
    • Identify patient problem and collaborates with the Anesthesia / Surgeon /
    Perioperative team in the selection of appropriate interventions (tasks).


    • Interacts with members of the health care team to plan and coordinate the
    perioperative care.


    • Promotes a healthy work environment through promotion of professional
    communication standards, commitment to co-workers, and positive problem

    resolution.

    Service


    • Conducts appropriate pre-anesthetic assessments, and document findings.
    • In collaboration with the anesthesiologist, determines the appropriate anesthetic plan
    of management, manages all aspects of anesthesia care to include preoperative,

    perioperative, and immediate postoperative care.


    • Maintains complete and accurate documentation of care for all procedures.
    • Provides airway management and/or intubations for emergent, non-emergent, and
    resuscitation situations throughout the hospital.


    • Anticipates and exceeds patients and customers' expectations that meet all
    elements of the Henry Ford Experience.


    • Identifies services and care improvement ideas and act on them to create excellent
    customer experiences.


    • Demonstrates, supports, and assumes personal accountability for consistently
    upholding team members to the standards across the System and adhering to Henry

    Ford Health policies and procedures.


    • Recognizes the unique contribution all health care team members contribute to the
    patient experience.


    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    • Independently uses and documents the nursing process to plan, deliver, and
    evaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patients

    including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.


    • Seeks to understand and incorporate both safe practices and evidence-based
    practices into daily nursing care.


    • Maintains compliance with regulatory standards regarding practice, environment,
    and documentation.


    • Directs and delegates nursing care based on patient acuity and staff competency
    that is consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimum patient care.


    • Participate in quality improvement/ patient safety initiatives and programs.

    EDUCATION &


    EXPERIENCE:
    Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, with current licensure to practice in Michigan as a Registered Nurse. Licensure as a nurse anesthetist in the state of Michigan. Graduation from an accredited school of anesthesia. Ability to work harmoniously in collaborative situations with anesthesiologists and other health care providers. Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel. At least 4 years of experience working as a staff CRNA. 2 years supervisory experience working within a tertiary medical center preferred.


    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

    • State Specialty Certification
    • CRNA Certification
    • ALS Certification
    • BLS Certification

    PHYSICAL DEMANS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Frequent walking, bending, lifting may be required to perform duties. Work is generally

    in an operating room environment, but can be in Radiology, ICU, ER, or wherever nurse

    anesthesia services are required in the hospital. Working conditions are variable with

    exposure to communicable diseases and other hazards. Driving may be required
