The key responsibilities for this role include:

• Informing taxpayers about their rights, examination procedures, tax responsibilities, and the importance of meeting future obligations.
• Conducting necessary filing checks and examinations of returns with a focus on significant tax implications and potential compliance issues.
• Assessing tax deficiencies, facilitating payments or installment agreements when necessary, and preparing detailed reports of findings.
• Providing guidance and training on tax laws and accounting principles to specific audiences.

STANDARD POSITION DESCRIPTIONS (SPD):

Telework Eligible Positions: Telework eligibility is subject to meeting IRS requirements and supervisor approval, with a 200-mile radius limit from the assigned post-of-duty (POD). Employees are expected to report to their designated POD when required.
Completion of a 1-year probationary period may be necessary.
Government-issued charge card usage for business-related travel is required.

Qualifications

Federal experience is not mandatory. Full-time or part-time work is considered. One year of full-time specialized experience at the GS-07 level or equivalent is required.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
GS-9

You need one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level, demonstrating knowledge of business practices, basic accounting principles, and Federal tax laws. Qualifying experience includes auditing tax records, analyzing systems, and utilizing factfinding techniques.

OR

Educational qualifications such as a Master's degree in relevant fields can be considered as a substitute for experience.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR:
Applicants must demonstrate accounting knowledge equivalent to specific semester hours based on the GS level.

REQUIREMENT:
Meeting Time In Grade (TIG) requirements is essential for eligibility, ensuring a minimum of one year at the previous grade level for positions above GS-05.

TIME AFTER COMPETITIVE APPOINTMENT:
Current civilian employees must have completed at least 90 days of federal civilian service after the latest non-temporary appointment from a competitive referral certificate.

Education

Transcripts or equivalent documentation may be required to fulfill the education requirement. Official transcripts are mandatory upon selection.

FOREIGN EDUCATION:
Foreign education credentials should be equivalent to U.S. education standards and documented accordingly.
