    In this position...

    The Dynamometer Test Technician works full time at the Michigan Proving Grounds (MPG) in Romeo, Michigan. The technician is responsible for Instrumenting and de-instrumenting vehicles that will run on the chassis dynamometers (dynos).

    Primary responsibilities include installing the vehicle onto the dynos, connecting instrumentation to the test cell and monitoring the progression and dyno operating systems during test.

    This position is a 12-hour 7-day crew shift pattern with day and night shifts.

    The Dynamometer Test Technician works full time at the Michigan Proving Grounds (MPG) in Romeo. The technician is responsible for Instrumenting and de-instrumenting vehicles that will run on the chassis dynamometers (dynos).

    Primary responsibilities include installing the vehicle onto the dynos, connecting instrumentation to the test cell and monitoring the progression and dyno operating systems during test.

    What you'll do...

    Responsibilities for Candidates may vary and include but are not limited to:


    • Prepare and execute test profiles on vehicles
    • Install all necessary equipment & instrumentation to run vehicle profile:
    • Floor Bracket
    • Actuator - with all proper adjustments
    • Connect NC boxes
    • Pedal Bracket
    • Thermocouples
    • Transition vehicle Dyno mode (if needed)
    • Make a road recording (if applicable)
    • Knowledge of Corporate Engineering Test Plans (CETP) to drive road recording
    • Interpret data from recording for accuracy
    • Install vehicle onto test stand:
    • Setting inertia weights (if applicable)
    • Setting proper wheelbase
    • Burke-Porter Pendant Use
    • Burke-Porter Robot Setup
    • Vehicle Tie Down
    • Computer and Controls use
    • Load test into Computer
    • Run test and monitor vehicle while running
    • Report any stand issues to dyno engineering
    • Fuel vehicle twice per 12-hour shift
    • Communicate any issues with VLC on duty
    • Derig after testing is complete
    • Review incoming paperwork for accuracy or missing info
    • Update test tracking software (ELMS and DURIS) statuses to reflect the status of vehicle
    • Work with Vehicle Line Coordinator (VLC) group for vehicle issues and completed tests
    • Maintain all paperwork and excel tracking sheets
    • Send out daily progress report
    • Maintain safe practices following procedure requirements

    • Employment in this position with Ford is covered by the Salaried UAW Collective Bargaining Agreements
    • Dues and Membership are governed by the UAW Constitution, Federal laws, and State laws.
    • Salaried UAW employment affords the same salaried benefits as non-represented employees in addition to policies negotiated in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
    • Ford UAW Salaried Bargaining Agreements are typically negotiated every 4 years
