    Job Title: Food Service Assistant

    Job Summary:

    This position involves performing routine food service activities such as setting up serving areas and serving food to students and staff. The successful candidate will also perform cashiering duties and maintain the cleanliness of food service facilities.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Preparation of Food Service Facilities: Prepare food service areas for serving by counting and setting out food trays, preparing the steam table for hot meals.
    • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Wash and prepare eating and serving areas, set out food, trays, and beverages according to established procedures.
    • Food Handling and Serving: Heat, portion, and serve food to students and staff according to established procedures.
    • Cashiering Duties: Count money, prepare moneyboxes or cash registers with appropriate amount and denominations of change.
    • Point of Sale Operations: Sell a variety of foods and beverages, make proper change, operate point of service system to ensure accurate meal counting and claiming of meals.
    • Inventory Management: Assist in storing unused food and supplies, dispose of unusable leftovers and garbage.
    • Maintenance of Equipment: Operate a variety of standard kitchen equipment, report faulty equipment as necessary.
    • Other Duties: Perform related duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Knowledge: Standard kitchen equipment, utensils, and measurements, basic math and cashiering skills, sanitation practices related to handling and serving food, interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
    • Abilities: Serve food in accordance with health and sanitation regulations, learn and follow health and sanitation requirements, maintain food service equipment and areas in a clean and sanitary condition, operate a cash register and make change accurately.
