Job summary
The Tumor Registrar is responsible for coordinating and maintaining an effective system to register and follow patients with a diagnosis of malignancy. Duties include retrieving and analyzing cancer patient registry data for future optimal cancer program planning and research within the community in accordance with the requirements of the American College of Surgeons (ACOS) Commission on Cancer and the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH).- Abstracts cases with all required data as outlined by ACOS manual and NYS Facility Reporting Manual.
- Uses multiple sources when analyzing patient information to ensure accurate data abstracting.
- Fully understands and assigns proper medical diagnosis and stage of cancer, records treatment plans, and assigns medical coding according to the ICD-O-3 classification system.
