QE Solar is a national leader in Solar Operations & Maintenance, delivering reliable service and maximizing asset uptime while prioritizing safety. We manage well over 3GWs of PV/BESS projects with hundreds of employees, serving renewable asset owners coast-to-coast with an owner's mindset to deliver consistent quality and service with urgency.

The Safety Director is responsible for implementing the QE Solar Health and Safety program, planning and guiding safety initiatives to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment. The Safety Director supports QE Solar operations in ensuring all QE staff conduct operations safely for employees, clients, subcontractors, and the public. The Safety Director ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, county, and local safety regulations and demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and teamwork to enrich QE Solar's safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide health and safety leadership and direction to all QE staff.
• Serve as a contact on Health and Safety issues and offer recommendations on job site hazards, employee training, and safe equipment operation.
• Ensure compliance with the corporate workers' compensation program and work with internal personnel, third-party administrators, and legal counsel to investigate and resolve claims efficiently and cost-effectively.
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with QE Solar Clients, Site Health and Safety Managers, local representatives, and subcontractors.
• Create, manage, and review site-specific health and safety plans (HASP) and review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with QE Solar, OSHA, and NFPA requirements.
• Appraise and implement new safety policies and procedures related to QE Solar operations; ensure staff are trained in emergency response procedures.
• Act as internal incident manager to properly manage safety emergencies and injuries; ensure HASP orientation for new staff and client personnel as applicable.
• Assist in the preparation of new work proposals as solicitations relate to Health and Safety objectives.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings with field personnel and conduct safety audits with corrective actions as needed to promote worker and public safety.

Training

• Assist with development and delivery of safety training programs for managers and employees, including safe equipment operation and fire prevention for job sites and offices.
• Facilitate employee training in first aid and CPR and maintain training records; ensure new employees receive safety instructions prior to starting work and understand site hazards and precautions.
• Provide training and education to all staff levels as required by federal and state safety regulations.

Compliance and Support

• Assist with risk management planning and safety policies in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations for field and office operations.
• Serve as a point of contact for federal, state, or municipal safety authorities (e.g., OSHA); manage motor vehicle fleet safety programs and driver background investigations.
• Maintain third-party qualification sites (ISNetworld and Avetta) and represent QE Solar in community or industry safety groups.
• Promote positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, coworkers, and management; regularly update managers on pertinent issues.

Audit and Knowledge

• Prepare studies and analyses of industrial accident causes, hazards, and corrective actions; identify means to prevent and reduce claim costs and improve experience modifiers.
• Record and compile safety data, monitor equipment, and schedule maintenance; uphold OSHA General Industry standards, NFPA 70E-2024, and related guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge of safety programs and applicable standards, and stay informed on best practices in health and safety management.

Qualifications

• Required Education: Bachelor's degree in safety management, occupational health, or other STEM field.
• Preferred Education: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred but not required.
• Required Experience: 7–10 years of safety-related experience with a mobile workforce; strong understanding of NFPA 70E and OSHA Electrical Safety regulations; general industry and construction safety knowledge (OSHA 30-hour courses desirable).
• Required Certifications, Licenses, etc.: CPR/First Aid certification (including instructor preferred); EM hour certification and EM Competent Person for Fall Protection. Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Abilities: Physical ability to lift 25/50 pounds, move over uneven terrain, sit or drive for extended periods, and work in extreme weather; ability to work in all-weather conditions.
• Working Conditions: Remote workplace with potential all-weather conditions.
• Experience with Tools and Systems: Knowledge of safety management programs, incident reporting, and safety software as applicable.

Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 per year. Employment Type: Full-time. Location: Remote. Travel up to 50%.
